Some storybooks lend themselves beautifully to routines like The three little pigs (https://practical-magic.com/products/three-little-pigs) and The Hungry Caterpillar (https://barrymitchellproducts.com/products/butterfly-caterpillar-silks).
Are there other well-known stories that you tell using magic during your kids shows? Have a lovely week |

Qua-Fiki based his "Babushka of Baba Yaga" routine around the Baba Yaga stories I used to read and enjoy in Jack and Jill magazine when I was a kid. https://www.magicnook.com/WizJ21/wizj21-04Babushka.htm It's a case of getting interest from stories that aren't too well known - good stories are good stories for magic. The story of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer is a perfect tie in with Qua-Fiki's "Wild Reindeer Games." https://www.magicnook.com/WizJ23/wizj23-......ames.htm And of course, "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish" by Dr Seuss has it's own spongeball trick https://www.magicnook.com/WizJ20/wizj20-05OneFishTwoFish.htm "'Twas The Night Before Christmas" is illustrated as it is told by Spellbinder with his magical cards: https://www.magicnook.com/WizJournal/WJ-30ALL.htm and scroll down to item 6; and I use magic cards to tell the story of "Chicken Little" - https://www.magicnook.com/WizJ30/WIZJ30-10ChickenLittle.htm
For something really different, teach the kids the song of "The Three Little Kittens Who Lost Their Mittens" while illustrating the lyrics with Kitten Kards: https://www.magicnook.com/WizJ35/wizj35-......tens.htm Lots more where those came from at The Magic Nook, including tricks that tell BRAND NEW stories. That was the appeal of the story tellers of old, that they wove new tales of mystery and magic and didn't just rely on the old stories of long ago.

Hi Lippy,
There's a whole section here on the Café that I've just recently found out about, it's a gold mine of information: <b>Once Upon a Time</b> I've just bought one book on storytelling per some of the recommendations. Will be buying others once I finish this book. Good Luck. |

Terry Parrett had a fabulous routine for Professor's Nightmare based on Goldilocks and the Three Bears.
