Les Arnold was the President of the famed Long Beach Mystics in 1962 which was the organization that fostered the likes of Stan Allen, Mike Caveney, Mark Kalin and Dana Daniels among so many others. Les's full time job as a shop teacher certainly helped as he was able to build illusions and later developed the "kitchy" act with his daughter calling themselves "Les Arnold and Dazzle". But it is also important to note that Les is the grandson of The Great Leon.
This episode is inspiring in that he talks about creating magic for his act only to find that it didn't work with his onstage character. It is important to know who you are on stage and be true to that character, even if it means destroying something that you love. It could be good for someone else, but not for you. You can watch a video of Les Arnold and Dazzle from one of their performances on "Masters of Illusion", see some candid photos, read the blog, listen online and download the MP3 file at: https://www.themagicwordpodcast.com/scot......s-arnold
