It's a bit expensive for a single effect.
I'm curious what the success rate for this is?

I received mine and have begun playing with it. I am actually really, really pleased with this. If you like things like Train Tracking, Destination by Rus Andrews, Peter Turner's Propless material, etc etc etc this is in the same vein and you will like it. This is a very streamlined, rational process: The volunteer will think of a word with a sense of total freedom.
This process is well-justified, very open, and familiar to anyone. It's literally "Think of any word," parsed and slowed down, so that instead of instantly thinking of any word, they think of any word in steps and according to their own decisions. It plays very well as a dialogue, and I can see the touches added from Reese's wife--an actual psychologist. The process is what mind-reading would look like if it were real--it's not some foreign mental hopscotch, or phishing. It takes maybe 20 seconds from start to finish--but because it gives your volunteer so much freedom, it may take them a little longer to decide on what word they want to think of--you're sort of pointing out their vast freedom of choice the whole time--which is ridiculously deceptive in the context of the method. Peter Turner drops in for a couple ideas that broaden the primary method into 2 other approaches you will have in the holster. The best part of this release, in my opinion, is how streamlined/simple the method is to get you so close to your end-goal. The propless approach isn't 100%, but it's pretty good. Reese goes over more approaches to make it surefire. Great release.

Has anyone been able to convert this to another language?

This routine is well-thought out, and covers an array of possible avenues for how one can perform it (e.g., proplessly, with props, linking with other ploys/techniques, etc).
After reading the booklet a few times and watching the downloads, I felt ready to give this a go this evening (using the propless approach). I first did it over the phone and, to my surprise, I hit on the word! It was fun to perform and the stunned laughter from my friend was a great reaction I then did it face-to-face with two other friends later on. Both times it hit dead on. This is a very good effect. It is engaging for the participant (if performed well) and can produce great reactions. Counter-intuitively, it takes seconds to get all you need to know. Now that I am confident with the delivery of the script (and find it fun), I will continue to perform DTRH. I'll then have a much better idea for how often it hits (although 3 out of 3 ain't bad). - Ross

Anyone order this from 13 Souls? I placed an order a week ago and it's still "processing". I contacted them about this days ago and no one has replied back yet...

Maybe it’s a bug in the site, from what I understand the site is currently finding its feet. The bugs from BFF (from what I’ve just read in that thread) have also been straightened out upon request from a customer so it seems they are listening! David. |

Just received an email from Casper from 13 Souls. They have excellent customer service. They explained that they're still getting used to the system (for anyone else having this problem) and sent me not only the PDF via email but also another copy with a tracking number and will send that my way once they get it. I'm very impressed and can't wait to give it a read later on.
Also, thank you, David, for the peace of mind in knowing I wasn't the only one experiencing this glitch. |

Well I gave it a good try, and I don't think this is for me. Did exactly what was listed in the book to see if it was just me based on the other reviews. I performed it about 10 or so times over the last few weeks and it hit once for me. The word was pineapple. I have to say, though, when that hit, it was probably one of, if not, the best reactions I've seen for a propless effect. Free choice of word (besides the subtle restrictions given at the beginning) and there should have been no way I would have known that word. Sadly, every other attempt had failed and pretty hard. The only flaw of this effect, I think, is also the biggest in that the spectator has so much freedom and to memorize each possible outcome is simply too much effort for this effect. It's not quite like Phedon's Proteus in that you can add a drawing if you're getting that to pop up more often that others because in that effect, it's a much smaller selection to possibly choose from. It became too tedious to add more words as each performance had a different word without consistency. I'd much rather use a CT or even Pete Turner's Double Bluff from his NY lecture notes (and was even tipped on the bonus section of this release!!) to reveal a word with 100% accuracy. I did like how Reese narrowed down the word and it's much better than a typical ana***m. Aside from that, I can't see myself performing this.

For example in the process of taking out your notepad/business cards to "jot down your thoughts" or whatever other excuse? Or, even with a c**b, the hit rate would still be that low? 1 out of 10 is really not enough... |

I used a c**b for the performances except for the one time it hit (maybe that's my problem 😂) Maybe it's the participants I'm choosing, or I'm not pressuring them enough, but I've received some creative objects that a c**b doesn't cover unless I add to it for a later performance. My problem was that the performance would be a miss but ALSO no one would go for the added word again (because there's so many to think of...)
I really dislike leaving negative reviews as this effect works for Reese and the others who left reviews but as of right now, these are my findings. In other words, I'm halfway through Reese's Simplicity and I feel that's more my style and have been enjoying learning it thus far |
