Watch the trailer: https://www.ellusionist.com/transference-by-mark-elsdon.html
THEY READ YOUR MIND. This is Transference by Mark Elsdon. A script on your phone that's always ready to go, giving ANY spectator the power to be the world's greatest mind-reader. This is something we've had on our phones at Ellusionist for over a year, winning us countless free drinks at any bar we step foot in. The funny moments, tension, powerful pauses and fairness are all provided for you. The only thing your audience needs to do is read it out loud. You'll get 5 effects that use: - No Apps - No Stooges - No Dual Reality ... and can be performed with a borrowed, shuffled deck. If you know Mark Elsdon's magic & mentalism you'll know that the methods are always simple to do, the effects are always hard-hitting and the presentations are always laced with humour and totally deceptive. The best thing is that Transference is 100% heckler-proof and as a series of PDFs, it is guaranteed to work on both Android and iPhone. Download Transference TODAY. FULL TRICK OVERVIEW PRIME - The OG. Prime is the trick that fooled Ellusionist founder Brad Christian on an NYC shoot last year with his own deck. This is the one you'll be out performing immediately after downloading it. You can thank us for all the free drinks later. EXTRA - Going one step further than 'Prime', Extra allows the spectator to cut to the card that you officially cut to. This is THE one effect Mark uses to fool magicians if they've already learned his original method. RAINBOW - Your spectator tells you to select a card at random to match their card. One is a 3, the other is a Queen. Massive fail... not quite. When the deck is turned over all the cards have different backs expect the two you randomly chose together. ACAAN - If a magician publishes a trick and it isn't a way of finding any card at any number, was it even a trick at all? Mark Elsdon proves that to be true by turning Transference into an ACAAN that the spectator will actually have fun watching. Harsh… but true. DOUBLE - As a doubling-up on the original ‘Prime’ presentation of Transference, not only does the spectator find your card, but you also find theirs. This uses a special gimmick that you definitely already ow A NOTE FROM OUR TEAM -------------------------- Last January we released 21st Century Canasta by Mark Elsdon. On set, he shared the secret to Transference with us and it immediately became a trick our entire team had to have. By working in the magic industry, it’s always nice to have a few things to perform that nobody has ever seen before. This is my favourite one. Often when magicians perform, it's all about 'me me me'. Look how clever/powerful/amazing I am. It's not often the joy and euphoria is given to your audience, making them the star of the show. What you'll find performing Transference, is this opportunity pulls a shy participant out of their shell, it puts a heckler under a spotlight that you can control and it gives a true lover of magic chance to live out one of their dreams. Not to mention, we’ve used it to score free drinks at every social outing we’ve had across the globe for the last year. A line LITERALLY exists in the script to make that happen should you require a beverage of sorts. With no instant stooging and no dual reality it's one of the only tricks in magic where the person doing the effect is just as fooled as their audience. It even fooled Ellusionist founder Brad Christian, whose dealt in secrets for almost 2 decades. If that's not a seal of approval, I don't know what is. |

And why would I want to perform this with a borrowed deck and have to gain a peek when I could do it with my own deck and make it far cleaner?

'Can be performed with a borrowed, shuffled deck.' I have always found that to be a curious statement.
I have yet to meet another person 'outside of a magic convention or meeting of magicians/mentalists' that carries a deck of cards on their person. |

I have never borrowed a deck during performance. A coin or pen or paper is hard enough.

Looks nice and funny effect. Yes, it can be done with ma--ed deck of cards but the statement that the cards can be borrowed should means that the secret is different. So it was interesting to me and I just ordered. Will write a review soon.

Although I had the same reservations as others above, the concept seemed novel and the variations sounded interesting so I picked this up.
As expected, the core method taught (borrowed deck) is different than shown in the trailer but it didn’t disappoint me at all. The only restriction on this method is that it needs to be performed at a table (seated or standing). The borrowed deck can be in horrible shape and you really don’t need anything else on you besides the script on your phone. That checks a lot of boxes for me. Mark states that he almost never uses anything else besides the core method. Without saying too much, the technique is something most card magicians have played with at some point but almost certainly do not use (I never have). This routine gives a good justification and cover to use it easily. |

In addition to the “Prime” presentation that Elsdon says is his primary choice, a number of other clever effects and methods sharing a fun presentational hook are explored and scripted on this DL. The rainbow deck version in particular is pretty fantastic. It’s the kind of thing that could stand on its own, or could be done if a volunteer asks you to repeat the effect for a friend, or to repeat it for them at another time. It’s an impressive way to change things up and leave them just as amazed the second time. You can tell that a lot of creative thought and road testing went into this project. Each of the different variations are entertaining, clear in effect, and fooling even if you’ve seen the others. And none are difficult to perform. Elsdon’s instruction is clear and well organized, and he offers a number of insights along the way that could easily be applied to other routines. This one’s a winner, IMO.

Well, till now I have time to watch only the explanation of the main effect (which was on the trailer) and... I feeling somehow cheated... I think almost all magicians which watch the trailer will know what is the method behind it (including me and also some of the other members which commented above), but the statement that it is done with borrowed deck grabs my attention because on the trailer presentation it looks impossible to be done without a ma- - - d deck so I wanted to know how it was done. Well... unfortunately he DON’T explain the same presentation as in the trailer but other method for which you need a table... I was very disappointed because it not looks OK to make trailer which is not same as the method which is explained in the instructions...
So basically all magicians which have something in mind what is the method watching the trailer - yes, you are correct... But! There are explained also different versions and different script files (which I still not watch but from a brief look, they looks nice). So all in all I am happy with the order, because the price is ok and even that I was sure how the main effect was done (in the trailer and also the version without ma- - - d deck) I believe that the creator deserves the money. It is nice routine and I will be happy to test it soon.

Another sneaky way dealers sell magic. I really dislike it when they use this tactic.
For example, let's say that you watch a demo video and think that it must use either method A or method B. But then the ad copy will boldly state that the effect does NOT use method A or method B. Then you buy it and find out that 2 versions are taught. One uses method A but not B, and the other vice versa. To me, this is one of the worst kinds of false advertising because they can hide behind the fact that "technically" there is nothing false about it. It is simply misleading. |

It was pretty obvious how the version in the trailer worked -- and if they just admitted it and said that the purchase ALSO gives you a bunch of OTHER scripts INCLUDING one that doesn't require the MD, that would be one thing. But showing that demo and saying it can be done with a borrowed deck when that version can't be... is misleading. This is especially disappointing from E! who in the past has at least tried to be more upfront in their marketing (thinking of Stretch Cards, where they flat out tell you what you're getting). Just be upfront guys... |

Here's another instance of magicians concentrating on the WRONG aspect of what a trick can offer. Multiple methods are taught, some use a one method, others use a different method ... hence 'CAN BE' performed with a borrowed, shuffled deck. Mark has covered everything. This is what the ad copy says " You'll get 5 effects that use: - No Apps - No Stooges - No Dual Reality ... and can be performed with a borrowed, shuffled deck." The ad copy does NOT boldly say that it's not method A or B .... It's neither misleading, nor false. Everything you see performed in the trailer is taught. In Movie Trailers... they're not there to tell you the ending to the movie. They're there to pique your interest and get you to buy a ticket. Sometimes scenes in the trailers don't appear in the actual movie, yet nobody complains... why? Because they understand a trailer isn't there to teach them the movie and save them $20, but to get them to invest in the main product. Just because Ryan does it one way and Mark does it another, and both are taught, doesn't mean ANYTHING "sneaky" has gone on here. |

On Apr 12, 2019, Ryan Jacobs wrote: Oh please. Spare us this nonsense. Can you perform the trick shown in the demo with a "borrowed, shuffled deck"? No, of course not. Not so it looks like that, at least. There's a reason why you didn't show the borrowed, shuffled deck version in the trailer. If you don't want people discussing methods, then don't release a trick with multiple methods and then list conditions that only apply to SOME of them. Problem solved. "In Movie Trailers... they're not there to tell you the ending to the movie. They're there to pique your interest and get you to buy a ticket. This thread just reinforces why Lior was 100% right in withholding a demo video for his Selfie Trick.
