As a rubber band novice, can anyone speak to how difficult these effects are to learn and execute?

RKP, the basic version isn't physically hard to get down, and the routines go from simpler to harder throughout. It is ... specific about hand position, and angles play in, so it's something that will need practice to deliver. Especially as you want to be doing the "moves" on the offbeat. Hope that helps, feel free to PM me if you want to go deeper.

People ask me: What are those different color rubber bands on your wrist.
I say funny you should ask and then I bust out with maybe 3 routines. I don't want to rubber band them to death. Anyway........I like the main routine because you can leave your helper with a souvenir at the end of your set. Hanging on their finger. Very Cool Man Cool.

Are these routines completely different than those taught on the first TRU? Or just new variations?
Is there any reason to buy the first TRU along with TRU Xtreme? |

TRU AND TRUxtreme are different. Different hook up and different effects.

I have both Tru and Tru Xtreme. Although I have only watched the 1st volume of Tru Xtreme, it is different from the original tru so far. I usually like to watch an instructionall video twice but Menny is very detailed while going over certain points more than once.

Okay, so I've spent a bit of time with this now and run through all the materials. Let me provide a bit of a review and breakdown.
If you do any band magic, I can't imagine you wouldn't use something here. If you don't, then this is a good place to start. The materials are exhaustive - there's over three hours of breakdown, and there's nothing left to chance. Menny is a self-stated perfectionist, and every part of every movement is discussed and analysed. Personally, I wish it was a *little* quicker to cover the territory, but such is life. I thought the order the material ran in was a little strange - if you get this, start with volume #3 and learn the melting effect there. It's super easy to learn, very angle proof, has a nice three part routine outlined, and looks amazing. In fact, everything in here looks exactly like the trailer when you do it live. If you like what you see in the trailer, and you want to do that, you'll be very happy. The first volume primarily discusses ways to link and unlink the band on your fingers, while the second vid focuses on objects (sharpies etc). Getting in and out of the setup, and the angle-proofness of the routines varies - at worst you have about a second of setup, and have to be a bit careful how you hold your hands. It's all very practical, well explained, and workable however. It's good stuff. Not cheap, but I've been using it, so I feel like I've got the value out of it. It's also good compared to CMH which I think has been tipped pretty widely. A very good one to have up your sleeve, as it will work anywhere you have a band. |

Great review Morgan! Thank you for your insight on the effect. Is the routine where the band penetrates the spectators finger fairly easy to execute? This really looks like camera tricks!

I agree. Slow motion melt thru and spectator pulling band thru your finger of Volume 3 is very easy. The set up on Vol 1 & 2 (linking and unlinking the band on your finger and objects) are very similar. Penetrating objects like a sharpie, fork, etc is easy and angles are very good. You need to practice your angles when penetrating your own finger. Penetrating a spectators finger...well you'll need to practice to get into the set up in a second. Once you get the set up in a second which is very doable then the execution is not hard. Menny shows you how to practice the spectator penetration without a spectator. Everything looks as does the trailer. I will definitely use this along with a couple penetrations from the original Tru and with cmh.I might even add the T-1000 in the mix. I do prefer using the normal flesh tone #19 rubberbands as opposed to the black bands.

It's good to combine it with T-1000. Thanks for sharing the idea!

I wouldn't say any of the effects are really hard, but the slow motion penetration routine is actually easier than just about everything else. You won't have any issues pulling it off, or getting into the setup. And yes, it really looks just as good in real life as it does on camera. |

I am not a big fan of rubber band magic, until now. I like things to be more than "fooling" spectators. Menny has done us all a favor by testing and developing these wild rubber band miracles.

For those who have TRUxtreme, can the instructional videos be downloaded to your computer or are you forced to stream the video on a website to view the teaching/presentations?

Yes, they can be downloaded. Which I did, the web player is fine but not perfect for skipping around a bunch.

I feel bad. I wanted to order this but hesitated because of the price. But I watched the trailer over a few days just about 5 times and figured out 80 percent of it. I wanted to buy it but when it is priced this high the result was this for me.
