A smiling and joking ROY HORN spoke in public for the first time Monday, eight months after a tiger attack and subsequent stroke nearly killed him. Illusionist duo Siegfreid & Roy's images were beamed via satellite from their Las Vegas abode to New York's Radio City Music Hall where journalists were gathered for NBC's announcement of their fall lineup. The magicians have their own series premiering on the network, an animated show called "Father of the Pride." Siegfried & Roy quipped back and forth proving that Roy has regained his speaking ability. His left arm, however, remained motionless throughout the appearance. Though their Vegas show has been closed since the mauling, the two have not slowed down. In addition to working on their show this fall, MARIA SHRIVER will host a 90-minute special for NBC on Roy and his amazing recovery.
I just saw Roy on television. Considering everything he's been through, he looks and sounds great. His recovery is truly miraculous.

Whoa, I didn't hear about the stroke after the mauling. I must have missed that part. But Maria Shriver's hosting a special on him? WAY COOL! *admires Maria*

That is great news! I'm glad Roy is out of the woods.

How is the actual animation? Anyone know what artists are behind this?

How is the actual animation? Anyone know what artists are behind this? Haven't seen any yet . I expect it will be pretty slick from a technical standpoint. Not quite up to Pixar level , but better than most CG stuff . Dreamworks is producing the animation. A lot of the actual production work is being off-shored to Asian animation companies . Key work (storyboarding, design, color keys ) is being done at Dreamworks Animation in L.A. (Glendale) . Probably some up in Northern California at Dreamworks/PDI . Personally I think the designs look really clunky . I'm not impressed by the stills that I've seen, but trying to withold judgement until I see the show. The writing will make or break it . The Simpson's designs were clunky or even downright ugly , but the witty dialogue and story twists made the show work . If it's written on the same level as "The Simpsons", "Everybody Loves Raymond " , or even "Friends" **gack** (which it is replacing in the line up ) then it will probably fly , despite any shortcomings in the designs or the animation. |

If Dreamworks is behind it, then we may have something.
It just sounds like it will be a flop to me though...as much as I love animation.

I've seen bits and pieces of it. I'm sorry to say I don't think it's going to last long. I think it might make a good saturday morning show for the kids, but I don't see it lasting in primetime. I hope I'm wrong. Regardless, I'm just happy Roy is doing so well.

I don't know, I think the stills don't look too bad.
On the other hand, Dai has a point. Simpsons started out kinda clunky and odd, but people stuck with it, the show got better and it's now in its 13th or 14th season. As I always like to say, you never know until you try it. |

What better way to introduce new generations to real living legends?

Saturday Morning would be the time for this. I think it will flop on Primetime, as JAEIII said.
