I wonder if anyone can help.
I have the intention of this summer, while on break from university, of Busking in one of the coastal towns on the south coast of England.

I am a performing mentalist (part time) but have out together a "Street Hustler", "Don't Trust the Con" type act. This is three card Monte, cups and Balls etc. Its performed as a light hearted routine showing why you should never trust a street hustler. It gives nothing away (Except a small gift for the participant) and asks for nothing back, I use toy money so the spec' can gamble on their decisions.

Can I, as a performer just setup in a town high street and perform or do I need to get permission from the council or police or anyone else.

Your help and advice is greatly received.
Thanks,
Glenn.

It is often easier to say sorry than to ask for permission. Over all you are allowed to perform in the open air as long as you are not on private poperty.

Which coastal towns are you thinking of hitting?

Hi, Mario.
I was considering going between Brighton and Margate so a fair old stretch.

I guess your right it would be easier to say sorry.

Thanks for the thought.

The stretch of coast you chose is great during summer season as there are many outside shows willing to let streetworkers in, and the rewards from a captive crowd are always better than passer`s by. Try Worthing Sea Front Fair, Brighton Show,The Battle of Britain at Hove and in between Stammer Park in East Brighton have plenty of events on. Midweek the lanes are well populated but your pitch would have to be carefully chosen (Traffic congestion people wise) Have never had a problem with any of these venue`s, but I always ask first.
