I love packet tricks...never felt self-conscious about pulling a small packet of cards from a wallet instead of a deck of cards to perform with, and in the past few years have been really impressed by the unique effects released by Peter Pellikan.

TURN is his most recent contribution to the world of packet tricks. I can see where some performers may find the trick a little too "busy" with all of the changes that occur to both the fronts and backs of the cards. However, others may like it for that very reason...I did!

There is a little something that needs to be done to the cards which is never alluded to in the ad copy. It's assumed that most magicians have access to what is needed, but assumptions aside it should have been mentioned to potential customers. The extra work may turn off performers who like to simply work with cards in their natural state.

I will gladly share what it is that needs to be done to the cards you receive. I was slightly disappointed at first, but having prepared the cards per the instructions, I
have been pleased by the reactions I have been getting from lay audiences.

Unfortunately I think that the preparation necessary is considered part of the method so it is not mentioned. But perhaps they could have at least said that a common substance is required and not supplied. I don’t own this but I assume it is a download only or otherwise it should have been included.

I see what you're saying but the thing is available for under $20 and can probably be substituted by this http://blog.magicshop.co.uk/make-free-rough-smooth-playing-cards, or other similar things.

Peter is well known for requiring a certain substance in a great many of his tricks. If you think about it, there's no other way he can have so many changes and have a clean display at the end without lapping. When I bought Peter's Transcendance (https://www.vanishingincmagic.com/magic/magic-dvds/transcendence-dvd-peter-pellikaan/) it actually came with some of what is needed. It's too bad that Turn does not. I do not have Turn and don't know for a fact what is needed but have a look here: https://www.vanishingincmagic.com/magic/......g-stick/.

They do mention that to set it up with cards other than the supplied brand there is something else needed that you can get from them. It is in an answer to a posted question on the site. Also, you do not need the same item they mention. You can use an item that most magicians have (they mention several alternatives in the video).

When performing this, has anyone found that the certain substance makes some of the push-offs a little awkward. I find the first push-off can be a problem.

I used LSQ by alan rorrison and it worked for the display and the pushoffs were easy

I personally thought the counts in the demo looked awkward and that was the thickest packet of 4 cards I think I've ever seen!

Magic-Tony, you might be surprised at how few cards are in the packet of “4” cards...I will however, agree that the count looks awkward, and something extra should have been included in the package, even at a higher price point.

This is a cool way to make a cheap card wallet https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6twfn that I use for all my packet tricks.
