I just found the exact move by Ellis Stanyon in the routine Florin vs Penny, from his 1899 book, New Coin Tricks. It is not his, as he states the routines were in use by the performers of that time. Does anyone have an earlier reference?
S.E.M. (The Sun, the Moon, and the Earth) is a sun and moon routine unlike any other. Limited to 100 sets, here is the promo:

Mr. Rubinstein, part of the difficulty of researching magic is the labeling of move or device. It changes over time
So, would coin switch - method of, is perhaps a better term? |

I don't know how you would look, but the move I found is exactly the Bobo switch, with no name. From an 1899 book. Maybe there are older books with the same move, don't have to books to research.
