Recently I bought The Multiplying Wands from my local magic shop. I took them, read the instuctions, and practiced a few times. I found that the sound they make when you pull them apart is a dead giveaway.

I anyone knows how to stop this all help will be appreciated.

Cool, I am assuming that you are talking about the nested Multiplying Wands. If so then your patter and the ambient noise of the performing venue will cover the slight scraping sound that the nested wands make. No one will notice it but you.

Frankly the diminishing size of the wands telegraphs the method to the audience. No one (except maybe the youngest child) is really fooled by this trick. That is to say that no one really believes that you are making a wand appear out of thin air.

The beauty of the trick is the comedic situation of the assistant having to hold all those wands that keep rapidly appearing. It will be your handling of the assistant and your clever patter that creates the comedy.

It is a fun trick and a lot of kid show magicians and clowns get tremendous situation comedy from it.

Right... the situation comedy of the kid with wands under his arm, under his chin... etc. etc. is the trick... nobody is thinking method... you are just doing, if you'll pardon the pun, SCHTICK.

F.Y.I> There is at least one version of the "multiplying wands" where the wands do NOT diminish in size. How 'bout dat?!

I haven't heard of, seen, or played with a set yet, nor do I know of anyone who has. I really would like to watch a routine using such a prop and maybe retire my old, standard, nested, diminishing size prop. So now you have put me on a quest to find a set to play with!

I am sure you know about the Bev Bergeron nesting wands that caused a problem in production some years ago. I seem to remember something about the solid versus the hollow method of manufacturing.

David Ginn came out with them then, and still sells them on his web site. Then they came out with the multi-color set.

We have a local magician that uses the Ginn model and along with the break-a-way and it is really sells. Of course he is also a radio announcer.

As someone once told me when I was worried about the sound made by an appearing cane, "What does a cane sound like streaking through the stratosphere at a billion miles an hour, just before coming to rest in your hand?"

The nesting wands really is not about trying to amaze anyone with the effect. The enjoyment is simply from so many of them and from the child trying to hold onto them all and under his or her chin. It becomes a perfect comedy and comical moment as you work with the child to make the magic happen.

The multiplying wand INHO is not an effect but a gag. I have seen several people put it to fantastic use.

That is how I use it as well. I use it as a great bit of comedy by=play between myself and the child on stage. He constantly sees the wands and I am always the one who has one too many left over. He becomes the hero of the effect as I continually seem to mess things up. It is not used as a trick to achieve a "wow" factor. For me it is a moment of comical entertainment.
