You know those effects that you only perform on those with a lower than average IQ? I think this may fit into that category.

This looks great. Will definitely purchase (and this is after knowing what the props are - it’s good ladies and gentlemen!)
And pay no mind to this Pegasus guy. If I had a $1 (or £1) for any positive thing he’s ever said on these boards I’d amount to lint in my pockets. Just generally posts snarky comments.

I’d like to see a performance with a borrowed phone.

Anyone who’s actually seen this or laid hands on it know if the 12 effects have a sliding SOH scale for those of us challenged in this area?

That said, I do genuinely think this will be a great effect. Tobias is no dilettante. And this looks to be a well thought out and crafted piece of art. On that note, I do think it will be more of a performance piece that surprises and delights vs one that completely fools/blows minds. I think to Pegasus’ point, a spec may have some idea that the phone/projection is involved. And that’s okay. The piece entertains. Kind of Like those acts on AGT or BGT etc that perform interactive, choreographed pieces against some visual effect on screen. My hope is that the props are practical for impromptu purposes and I look forward to hearing more about it. |

I understand shaking a stick at the system from time to time - it’s not a perfect monster. But at least be constructive! Just bashing things sight unseen without having any previous experience with the item is doing nobody favors. Just makes you look jaded 110% of the time.
I think there are aspects that are easy to get into and out of without requiring a lot of sleight work. There will be more advanced animations that may take a little TLC. Here it’s more about subtlety than knuckle busting. Also, my opinion that this would work best as an atmospheric “piece of strange” as opposed to a working rep. Sure you could use it in a walkaround gig - But it’s so special It’s the last thing you want groups coming up and asking to show THEIR friends repeatedly. Because this is something people WILL talk about. And the second, third, fourth time would certainly be a lesson and not entertainment.

And who is saying this is presented as full on magic? this is an illusion or a magical-add on to the real shadow puppetry skillset...
I get that you can play this a little more seriously too, but just cos you see things presented a certain way in a demo, doesn't mean you have to do it like that...that's the problem with vids, it can kill off the creative process...buy things because you have ideas that you want to explore with the gimmick, not just so you can do the same presentation everyone else will...

Until I see this myself I would air on the side of Pegasus and caution .
He says the things a lot of us think , which some of us can’t say anymore unfortunately . So I for one certainly support his great input on these boards . This looks great for certain scenarios but the only effect I have seen that doesn’t require a lot of sleights is the holding of the spectators finger effect etc so it may end up being quite obvious unless you are a massively sleight based magician imo . Don’t get me wrong I like it but would I use it ? I am not sure but that probably won’t stop me buying it lol Gaz 🙂 |

I really enjoyed Paul Dabek's shadow puppetry work https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DRBXiusiwjw
If I was that good, I could see a way to segue this in that has some real punch. Not sure I could go in cold without all the attention being on the technology. |

I am surprised no one has mentioned how this might play well for Halloween. Maybe I am wrong.

I pulled the trigger on it. Excited to see the mechanics of this. My only hope is that the gimmick is reasonably hidden.
