Hey Magicfish, I just found out a power metal band named Cellador recorded a song I wrote for Cyndi Lauper:

Yeah, it’s a long story. I originally wrote it as a rock groove track for Ace Frehley when Ace and I were laying the groundwork for his Frehley’s Comet Band. Had a rocking’ guitar riff (not heard in either of these two examples), plus the descending melody line that you hear in the B section of the above arrangements. But when we rehearsed the song, the guitars were so loud, no one could hear my keyboards! So I invented a repetitive marimba riff on keyboards, so I could be heard. This is the percussive, syncopated marimba line you hear in Cyndi’s version, which is often played on synthesizer or guitars in many cover versions.
Long story short, Ace didn’t like the idea enough to work on it further. So I brought my unfinished idea to my co-writer at the time, Steve Lunt. He had written She-Bop for Cyndi Lauper's first album. Steve and I worked on it together to create a song called "Good Enough" with Cyndi in mind. Cyndi came in, heard our demo, and liked it because of the unusual African-flavored marimba riff. We worked on it as a trio and Cyndi added one or two new melody lines. The bulk of the verse lyrics were written by Steve and Cyndi while I was on tour with Ace. Then we got an offer for this song to be the title track for Steven Spielberg’s upcoming movie, The Goonies. Warner Brothers insisted on having a "Goonies" reference in the title, which is why the song was eventually called "The Goonies ‘R’ Good Enough." (And incidentally, it’s why Cyndi initially hated playing the song live, until eventually her fans insisted that she add it to her stage repertoire). |

Guess they forgot to tell Bill Buckley. "...as we reason and love, we are able to hope. And hope enables us to resist those things that would enslave us." |

Hey Magicfish, here’s a rock song not many people may have heard called I Need Ground. Recorded live at PBS Soundstage concert in Chicago. Peter Frampton and Gordon Kennedy on electric guitars & vocals, me on acoustic guitar & vocals, John Regan on bass, and Shawn Fichter on drums.

I like it Arthur, the Rock kinda creeps up on the listener at first, then it's full bore.
