Hello All
Why in the name of all that is holy would you want to use fake fruit???? If you do the C & B then you want to convey to your audience that you do have talent/power. So I feel that producing fake items during/at the end of your act is simply wrong. At the end of your routine you want your audiance to be completly "blown away" so to produce "fake" fruit and a "fake melon"...well if anything I feel that people would be disappointed. At the end of my show many people come up just to touch the oranges and the melon and walk away telling their friends that not only "where the heck did all of that stuff come from ...BUT it's all real," which totally freaks them out. I think that to use these fake items in your act is nothing more than being lazy, yes lazy! If you have gone through the trouble to learn/perfect a "killer" C & B routine then the very least you can do for your audience, as well as for yourself, is to be the real deal. eg. a Magician, or at the very least, use REAL items. May you never flash your load. Michael Lee |

Michael, thank you! Listen to the man folks; he knows what he is talking about.
I'm going to use fake cups, fake balls, and a fake wand too. I always have people touch my fruit as they drop into the hat. I want them to know it's real. Imagine if way back when the man had produced faux fish and loaves. Hmm.. Best, Dan- "MT is one of the reasons we started this board! Hello All
Danny ...fake cups... what an idea!!!!! Love it. Just think of the trouble I could have saved in creating my "Millennium Cups" and Gaz & Gary A. Too. In regards to the fake wand, hmm, there is a joke there just waiting to be told..Ha ha Michael Lee |

Using a fake wand, that's going too far! I always use my real magic wand when doing C&B and sometime A&B and C&A, but then that may be why one could get by using a fake wand!

I have no problem finding oranges the right size, but I have had times when it was a pain to get a melon that was small enough. I like the idea of having a fake melon just in case I need it in a hurry. Gazzo told me sometimes it is hard to find a melon the right size. That was my reasoning.
I have the same experience with people coming up to touch the fruit to see if it's real. Jim

James, and co...
I read an article recently in a health magazine that got my interest right away. With all the low-carb crazy diets lately, one thing fruit growers are creating are called "mini" melons. Sure, these small melons have been around since dirt was first formed (or near that), but only with the recent market demand are they readily available. By mini melons I'm talking a watermelon that is the size of a cantaloupe. With such a great demand by diet health nuts, it may become far more easy to find a good melon that will fit under your hat. All that said, I think it'd be great for someone to actually create fake melons for hat loads so that those who wanted one would always have it available. Robert Bloor

What's the problem with Melons? They get ripe? So, what do I use? A coconut. Last's forever. Hard as a rock, dark so it doesn't flash. Great load item.
I have been cured. I don't buy cups anymore--I am broke. (Don't get divorced unless you can win the $$ from her) (and the house) (and the dog).

You know Pete, I tried a coconut on the street and it fell flat. A melon (Honey Dew) got a much better response. That killed me I would have bet money that a coconut was funnier than a melon. It just laid there and died... **scratches head**
I bet indoors a coconut would kill... Hmm.. Best, Dan- "MT is one of the reasons we started this board! I’m so sick of posts being deleted without any reason given, and by unknown people at that." - Steve Brooks Sep 7, 2001 8:38pm ©1999-2014 Daniel Denney all rights reserved. |

Imagine having a squirt flower bulb connected up to this, so when you produce it, you could shoot a stream of water out of it! Seriously, I basically agree with Michael Lee. The only way I would go with fake fruit would be if I could find some that FELT real. But since Frank is working at a ball park, I know of a neat final load for him to use. There is an item called an "autograph baseball." This thing is a real baseball, but it is about 7 inches in diameter! You can get them at sporting goods stores.
