Maybe you guys can help me out... I just saw a great color changing coin trick that uses a coin I am not familiar with.
it is an oriental coin with a hole that changes back and forth to a half dollar. one part is oriental on one side and silver dollar on the other with a hole through... the other piece is an expanded shell that fits over the other but inside the shell is a post of sorts that fits through the hole of the first coin and makes the half dollar whole when viewed assembled. I looked here and there and see a set of two coins called opium coins that seem to be this but two coins are needed hiding stuff. do you guys know what this coin set is and where might I have a source for this? thanks in advance for any help you can be Marty Shapiro Travelers Rest SC / |

It's called a "post coin" or sometimes "china bit".... hard to find by itself as a stock item.
Some CSB sets use this type of gimmick (Eddie Gibson's Chinese Bit for one). Among other things, David Regal's Translocations set also included this type of gimmick. Some semi-recent discussion of the gimmick on the Genii forum: https://forums.geniimagazine.com/viewtopic.php?t=50466 |
