I have Cataclysm & Trilogy. The latter gives you a single 100% non multi-out prediction...it does feel like a pointless exercise to invest in Pinnacle? Or am I missing something???

If you don't have Trilogy or Cataclysm, would it be a good effect to get. I've heard mixed reviews on Pinnacle so I don't know.
Thanks, Allen |

No it's not the same, related yes but I'll use both, perhaps not in the same set. I find Pinnacle even more perplexing, but some perhaps disagree...

Next week I hopefully I will be filming Abusing The System Video 2, my new take on Pinnacle. I have made a deck with multiple different categories (as I mentioned in video 1) so I can perform an array of different effect with the same deck and get this NO NUMBERS. Honestly if you are viewing Pinnacle as just a card and number effect you are missing out on what is truly one of the finest forcing systems on the market today. Brian created something very special with Pinnacle, you just need to know how to use it.

I love Trilogy and Cataclysm and am a big fan of Brian Caswell so I was very curious about his new effect Pinnacle and honestly wanted to love it as well. But I have to say that I was underwhelmed with it.
As Peter has said it can be used to force a wide variety of things, but to me it seems like an odd way to use it. By that I mean if I wanted to force a city for example, I would much prefer to use a SvenPad or DFB, or even a few other methods. Using a deck of playing cards with different cities written on the back just seems a bit convoluted IMO. Plus, this deck really isn't intended to force one thing it's intended to force 3 things, that is really the only thing that you could say it brings to the table...the way in which you can force 3 different numbers or whatever. That is what I was most interested in. But I don't consider this set up to be anything revolutionary by any means and you are still required to use the old ruse of "now you think of an entirely different card" (i.e. a different suit) which I guess I was really curious if it had eliminated that psychological force. Although you can perform this to a single person it really is best if you do it to 3 spectators. Even though Peter's main point seems to direct people away from using numbers on the backs altogether if I was going to use this style of deck and method I prefer using numbers on the backs and doing it with only 2 predictions. First having a number selected and then having a playing card selected and showing your predictions match, like with Thoughtwave Extreme although I never end cared for using the symbols in that one. So in a nutshell, I was disappointed with this as I didn't find much that is really new here, more of just a variation on the basic theme and if I was looking for a force for perhaps a Confabulation type of effect involving a force of 3 different things I would prefer another method (or more likely methods) anyway. Now while I do not consider this to be anything revolutionary I do actually think it is a worthwhile method to have in your arsenal because there may come a time when I need a quick and easy force for some routine I want to customize at the last minute and this would work in a pinch. |
