I was checking out an article and the trailer for Scorsese's new Netflix film "The Irishman", starring Robert De Niro and Al Picino. It's based on the book "I Heard You Paint Houses" by Charles Brandt, which involves the disappearance of Jimmy Hoffa.
De Niro plays Frank Sheeran (The Irishman), a real life labor union leader and Pacino plays Hoffa. My first thought was that both these guys were way too old to be playing these roles until I read that the film used a De-Aging technology from Lucasfilm's Industrial Light & Magic to make De Niro, 75, and Pacino, 79, appear younger. Amazing. Check out the trailer to see how De Niro looks. This is a great opportunity for some actors & actresses to make a comeback.

Thanks Motown - I've been waiting for this movie since it was first hyped about a year ago. Love De Niro and Pacino! Looks like it will be a great flick!

The trailer looked good. I use to work near the Manchus Red Fox restaurant, where Hoffa was last seen. It closed many years ago. I’m interested in seeing Pacino’s performance as Hoffa. Jack Nicholson did such a fantastic job portraying in the film “Hoffa” back in the early 90s. In his case they had to age him.

Maybe I'm a minority of one here.
But I hate the idea of digital de-aging. See, to me an actor has a certain dignity when it comes to deception, just like a magician. Most magic fans agree that magic on film can deceive--but not by using camera tricks. I feel the same way about actors. When DeNiro played Jake LaMotta in Raging Bull, he didn't do it with digital fattening, but by actually gaining 100 lbs. Now I would have been fine if he were using a fat suit or latex or any technique that he could have achieved on a stage, but I draw the line at camera tricks. It's not acting, anymore than CGI is Our Magic.

Actually that makes two of us now, Landmark. Not a fan of digital filters which alter an actor’s age.

I don’t disagree. I guess it’s the age we live in. When I first saw clips of the new Lion King I didn’t know it was a movie. I thought it was some kind of National Geo footage of lions in Africa, it was so real looking. Pretty soon we’ll be watching computer generated movies with De Niro and Pacino. I think something like this was done with the British actor in Gladiator who died before the film had finished shooting.

Heck, I wish that I could use it. It's not pretty being in family and friends pictures anymore. Shaving without a mirror is next.
