The Bad News: The box is not deceptive at all. In person it looks even worse than in the pictures online. Anyone would be able to tell it has a false bottom.
The Good News: You can place the detector in a box of your choosing and make it much more deceptive. The big question will be if the electronics hold up over time. In detector mode when using a strap, mine does not have a very large range. You have to be very close to the item you are trying to detect. Overall if the electronics are well made, then this is a bargain for what you get. A comparable item from the competition is three times the price. |

3 times the price for 3 times the reliability and longevity and warranty perhaps.

Well, I have finally been playing with this today and I have to say I am impressed. It appears this is made well to me but I am not a electronics expert as far as the making of them. That said, I have purchased many electronic devices over the years. I have also had some electronics made for me and marketed them such as Child's Play. I am referred to by magicians who know me as as Mr. Battery. I think this is pretty good. Only time will tell. That is just my thoughts.

I have been informed that you cannot gaff your own items.

Hey Paul, are you referring to gaffing your own box or getting additional tags?

Well, I trust Ron's opinion...plus I'm weak-willed when it comes to this kind of effect. We'll see what arrives.

It is true you can't use any of your own gaffed items. I have a puzzle box that, while not deceiving, will be hard to find the hidden drawer. I may use it instead. I did have to carve the hidden drawer a little to fit the sensor device. I see these are still available on Amazon.

Here is a picture of the box. It has a nice brass oval plate on top too.

You could still use this for a seance. The person you are trying to contact died more recent rather than many years ago. Maybe a gambler or someone younger?

If using the strap to detect it will depend on the item but usually 4 or so inches. I think the best way to detect is to ask the spectator to move their hand out a little as you take them under their arms and pull them out. This will do two things. One, you will first know if which hand has the hidden item and second if you are lucky you will get the vibration to know what has been taken. If you miss and the item is in their other hand you can just say thank you and mover their hand again with your detector arm or you can tell them the hand that does not have the item then just take the hand that does have the item and mover your hand over and under to "predict" what they have. I honestly think many people are over thinking this. I have no connection with the originator of this item but I think it is very good especially for the money.

I would suggest:-
If you miss and the item is in the other hand, then immediately cross both your hands and hold the spectator's both wrists and cross the spectators arms. And Waala you get the reading (the requisite info) without any fumbling and waste of time. Also, as I understand this effect, I think that with the above suggested method the spectator can choose any two chips (out of the six chips provided) and the Magi can get the requisite info as to which chip in which hand.

Can you simply finger palm the receiver instead? Secondly, can you start off using the box in Pandora mode and then immediately go into Detector mode? |

Also with my own experience with such similar products (i.e. the Insight Pro and Insight ESP) 4 inches is a bit too much for sensing the RFID/NFC tag when held in a closed fist. @ Mrmagic0: It will be nice if you can please recheck and confirm the sensing distance with the object held in a closed fist. Thank you for your time. Once again just my thoughts. P.S. I have ordered this item and I will soon know it all.

OK I just did a better check and abut 2 1/2 inches is more accurate for the ring and closer at about 1 -1 1/2 inches for other objects.

Mine seems a little closer than that, about an inch to inch and a half. Maybe mine is not as strong. Still impressive.
The detector is too big for me to finger palm. It needs to be strapped to your arm under a sleeve. |
