Matthew Wright is a fantastic magician and an amazing magic creator.
Matthew offers us 2 super practical and very easy tricks with an object everybody is familiar with: A Sharpie! With Sharp Turn you create the illusion of recapping and uncapping the pen in the blink of an eye or have it visibly jump from one end of the pen to the other! The Marvelous Floating Sharpie allows you to immediately hand the pen out for inspection after the body floats through the air. Both effects look cool. Sharp Turn looks more visual than Pointless by Greg Wilson. Can you use the sharpie to write before and after the effects?

Floating Sharpie looks really cool. I wonder how easy is the cleanup before handing over the sharpie for examination. Or Is it just limited to a video effect on social media and cannot withstand close examination during the performance.

Matthew was selling these as a bundle at Blackpool. Sharp Turn can't be used to write due to the nature of how it works. It also can't be handed out for close inspection. That said the visualness of this effect is great (which I suppose is helped by the design of the sharpie).
The Floating Sharpie, however, can be used to write with and can be handed out to a spectator to write with (with some cleanup). However, if you're planning on performing the floating sharpie multiple times, you cannot hand it out for inspection. The instructional video has a section where Matthew teaches his theories on IT which will help if you want to perform this live. |

Too bad. Even though it seems overpriced, the effect looked great and I was thinking of purchasing until I read the reset comment. Thanks. I was wondering the same thing which is why I am reading this

Oooh...please let it be a practical use of IT. I have spent far too much money trying to find practical ways to perform IT effects but have never felt confident enough of the methods for a live performance, except when performing small animations using lo**s.
I look forward to reviews before committing to this one. |

I’m impressed that the bar looks rather brightly lit!

Matthew is very creative and has several hand to hand levitation like this. They are all good, Some require more reset than others. I found Afal’s comment interesting. Although it doesn’t say so in the ad copy from the way Matthew does the effect at a table you might assume it was suitable for walk around. To me the rest time is crucial, especially for tricks that you would be performing in a casual situation. Still. It looks good

That just seems ethically wrong to me. Is the point of pre-sales to suck people in to buying stuff before they’re fully (independently) informed? And then to actively ensure they remain uninformed as long as possible? Not criticising this release in particular - I absolutely love Matthew’s stuff. |
