Im not talking about myself I am talking about the many pros who have left already and the few that occasinally still hang around. I miss them hanging out here. I know I got a lot of benefit when they did.
Its because of repetitive and boring posts that they left. Fine if you just want to talk about Derren and nothing else.........Go ahead. |

Yeah and how many posts are there about NW?
or CT? or NLP? The reason we do this here and nowhere else is because regular people don't give stimulating conversation, take that as a compliment shrink (I enjoy your posts)! Nathan Pain

Thank you to the user who posted a proper idea/question in this thread, about whether he should go to the live thing after watching the seance on television - I think you should tape the seance on TV, then watch it after the live performance! [good eh..] any more queries on DB which nicely-minded people interested in Derren Brown can discuss? -Francisco

I'm in my mid-thirties, have been interested in Magic since I was 6 and had never heard of mentalism until Derren came along. Derren is doing a good job. No doubt the general "obsession" will pass, but it's great to see that Derren inspires and entertains so well. As long as the discussion about Derren is polite (whether positive or negative) and not asking directly for secrets then there should be no problem. I'm also with you on the "tape the show" decision. |

I was searching web earlier and came across hypnosis web site. Can't remember where it was.
Anyway, the hypnotist and NLP practioners are getting a little ****** off with Derren Brown because the NLP workers think it's all NLP and are studying like mad to do his stuff and a person who appeared on the DB show was on the forum and was telling them all that he was hypnotised. Actually there were a couple of people from the DB show that were on the forum. Because he is saying its nlp, suggestion and psychology, they are all cottening on what hes really doing and they aren't happy. If someone else has been, or comes across this site, post it here. It's interesting to see what the laypeople are saying.

Kukram,
I brought that up over a week ago. See my 'Controversial Derren Testimony' thread. Eventually, someone emailed DB's management about it, and they (and DB himself) read it. They said it was utterly wrong, although entertaining to read. Scott. |

He-he, lol Thanks, Beetroot. Nice to see another DB fan who is logical about people who don't like him.
There is a whole new thread on the seance, but it would be good to keep other queries in here.

It always fascinates me how we buy into the mind conditioning of the TV set in the corner of the room, which says, "If they're on here they must be the very best".
First of all let me say that I find Derren Brown almost faultless, and I am a huge huge fan. However, I'm sure Derren, who comes across as an intelligent man, is completely aware that there are many mentalists/magicians/actors out there who are his complete and absolute equal. The difference being that NOT being on TV they're not allowed to do retakes which are edited to perfection, aren't surrounded by a 40 man squad (including many world-class magicians and technical experts and don't have a six-figure (or more!) budget. I just find it baffling when I hear comments which suggest that no other person could achieve what he does when it would appear patently obvious that there would in fact be quite a large queue who would happily achieve the same or possibly even greater effects/affects. When people write in claiming that 'Derren's the best', I would simply ask: compared to who? In the UK for example we hardly ever see more than one (perhaps two) magician on TV at the same time, yet I've seen countless mentalists in the UK scaring the pants off men and women, and I'm sure it happens across the pond as well. I mean to say, if I can make someone scream, cry or run out of the room isn't that enough? I mean if they scream louder than Derren's participant, am I better than Derren? Are there really so many working mentalist/magicians out there who truly believe that they would NOT be able to achieve the same effects within the same level playing field? And if so, may I ask what you think Derren's got that you haven't?

He also has a bad twitch which has been well covered on TV. It's obvious every 15 seconds or so when you see him live. Unless it's a covert signaling system he has developed which I would prefer to than something more serious. I hope he is OK.
Derren AND his team are without doubt very talented but some of you guys just go too far. I doubt many could take his place; you only have to go to a few lectures or watch a few other supposedly mentalism shows to realise how good he is and how bad some reportedly top mentalists are. But I'm glad he's finished. It's time for him to leave the UK for a while, give it a rest, go and conquer the states or something, then again we'll just flooded with American posts. |
