What are the year round pitches that are also atleast decently workable during the weekdays.

I'm retired, but have done a little busking over the years, mainly just to see if I could do it, if ever necessary. I decided that I could do it, but, I had plenty of work booked, so I didn't pursue it.
You may not get many replies to your question, as full time buskers may not desire to have others competing for the same location! It's not a matter of selfishness!

Dick is correct it’s not something most people are going to post.
If they have a pitch that they work why spread it around. Buskers are rare breed that travel the world looking for a pitch to entertain the masses. I’ve been globe trotting since 86 and have yet to find a workable pitch all year. Weather plays a big part in that, maybe read Dreamers Highway. Ok you can work Clearwater beach year around but the hats are way small And you can only work a few hours in the evening. Key west is also workable year round way way hot in the summer. All the best, Nickoli |

The original question intrest me and I would love a answer to these questions, 1- Why one pitch all year round? 2-If your willing to travel why not do tour of pitches? 3- If you want to work just one pitch why not ask how to work one pitch at good and bad times? Any how have fun and busk strong!

On Sep 23, 2019, Yellowcustard 1. I want to know where the good pitches are. I have the idea that a good pitch is good year round. Would be good to know where I could live and buy a house, I want to be around a good pitch. 2. Exactly, I just don't know how to plot a route. I assume that if where I'm working is bad I during, February, if I go to the Holy grail year round pitch, it would be decent at that time. I'm really just curious if such a place exist. I know buskers follow the weather, but I'm from southern California, the weather is always perfect, when the money is bad, what the hell do I do? The only year round place I'm aware of is Santa Monica, Frank Deville works the pier year round, only problem is I hate LA, yuck, anyone from southern California will understand lol, Santa Monica is actually lovely so I might end up moving out there. I wonder if seattle is good year round, I see some youtube videos and its the same guys working times like september 3.I fear the bad times, that's why I'm learning coding and video editing, can't depend on busking alone. |

Are you asking about American pitches only....or on a world scale???????
If so, I am probably able to answer your question as much as anyone. |

Doesn't have to be American specifically, but I'm planning a trip around the US so it would be helpful : )

Hello Illusionsfortheblind,
you ask good questions. (I still haven't had the time, to answer two: 'Storys' and 'Risks',.. but I'll get to it). Sitting in the rain,..I have a minute for this one. Actually, thoughts shared, by the others, are really good(!). ..everybody shares a perspective, here. ,..something, THEY'RE good at(!). It's nice. (Zauberman's advice about your wife, is probably the most important to register!) My little piddle would be: Figure out HOW to create,..FIND, a 'good pitch'. The obvious limitations are easy to spot. The weather. The language. The weather. The space. The weather. The competetion. The weather. The amount of folks. The weather. Most, you can,....work around. There's one, however... That's obvious,..to you as well....I'm sure. But, 'creating a good Pitch', that's IS something that CAN be learned(!). Combine that with a good weather map,... I'm sitting out the aftermath of those tropical storms, that hit the bahamas two weeks ago. No winds or waves anymore.... just the rains. ,...the world spins,. what goes around,..comes around(!). Literally. have a nice day, Gallagher p.s.: When I read about your plan:"...learning coding and video cutting..." {Don't take this piece of advice. Don't.} There's a little harbour town, outside of Los Angeles. Rancho Palos Verdes. Go the the cemetary there, find Charles Bukowski's grave,. read his grave stone,.. ,.then send me $10. |

San Francisco is more or less year round. Rain will kill a lot of days in the winter, but there are still nice days too.
Here’s another ditty from Charles Bukowski: roll the dice if you’re going to try, go all the way. otherwise, don’t even start. if you’re going to try, go all the way. this could mean losing girlfriends, wives, relatives, jobs and maybe your mind. go all the way. it could mean not eating for 3 or 4 days. it could mean freezing on a park bench. it could mean jail, it could mean derision, mockery, isolation. isolation is the gift, all the others are a test of your endurance, of how much you really want to do it. and you’ll do it despite rejection and the worst odds and it will be better than anything else you can imagine. if you’re going to try, go all the way. there is no other feeling like that. you will be alone with the gods and the nights will flame with fire. do it, do it, do it. do it. all the way all the way. you will ride life straight to perfect laughter, its the only good fight there is. |

Sitting in my underpants,
coffee in front of me, 8:30..AM, Nienberg,..a 'new' towne... i've checked: the weather, the news,...my horoscope(!)... still haven't been able to find a reason NOT to go... It was a REAL pleasure(!) seeing Charles Bukowski's final bed... "Don't try."......'the boxer'. Reading: "Roll the dice..." ...made ALL my hair stand up! ....and I'm SITTING DOWN! I really appreciate it. Thank you. I'm heading out,...after the coffee. smiling from ear to ear, out of the body springs the fear! Gallagher |
