This sounds super interesting. I’m going to check this out for sure! A propless way to divine anything of their choosing. “ Hi Everyone, It’s Chris Jones from the 13 souls. Good pieces of “Prop-less Mentalism” are so hard to come by, finding a reliable method that is not long winded and doesn’t require lots of memory work is near impossible. Hell, it is as elusive as capturing the ‘Loch Ness Monster’. I honestly believe I’ve captured the ‘Holy Grail’. It’s simple and elegant – your audience can think of a word, a name, a playing card, country, colour in-fact they can choose the category and you can tell them exactly what they’re thinking with ease. No memory work required… No weird process… No ambiguity… If you wanted to look like you can genuinely read minds here’s your solution. I believe I’ve captured the elusive Beast – This is “PropNess” the ‘Holy Grail’ of prop-less Mentalism” |

When I watched the trailer I kinda felt it was like Phasma. I wonder how effective it really is.

Wow! This looks great. A quick question, is there a set list of categories that they are likely to choose from, or could they choose from say, world war two Japanese aircraft?

Took a punt on this earlier but personally am disappointed as the ad makes it sound like they can think of anything (well many different things) when in fact they HAVE to think of a playing card.
I ordered based on the ad and feel mislead. That’s not to say this is bad... it’s far from that, just not what I thought I was purchasing/learning. If you’re happy with the playing card aspect along with another piece of information, then you really can’t go wrong as it’s very clever. |

Thanks for sharing that, Johnsy. Good to know.

You don’t have to reveal the playing card - You can verbally reveal the information from any category they select and not bother with the card or if you wish reveal both. In fairness, they don’t physically choose a playing card only mentally. It’s like a condensed version of train tracking/ funnelling without having to lean to remember heaps of stuff or jump from letter to letter - it’s justified and makes sense. Just an FYI - with a couple of minutes put into this you don’t even need to get them to think of a playing card - I don’t know why the creator hasn’t seen this angle (as it is glaringly obvious). As far as prop-less Mentalism goes this is workable. It’s inspired an idea in me, I won’t be using this the way described (not because it’s not good) but because there is something staring me in the face that has made me chuckle. Thanks for that! Could have been more performances, but I like the mix of video/ reading. For a low price piece of fun it fills the void. David. |

I have watched the trailer (but don't yet have the effect.) However, for once, I really enjoyed the trailer. Superb graphics, an entertaining chat and indication of just what PropNess is about.
I wish other trailers were as good and professional. Neil |

I’ve watched the performances of this so far. It has great merit and is 100% worth picking up for such a low price. The principles can be taken so far with minimal thought. They needn’t actually think of a playing card to begin with, there are other categories they can think of something from that will work perfectly with . I’m unsure of this is discussed in the project as of yet as I haven’t got around to the explanations (but based on previous reviews I’d assume not). I do know the principles already, as Pete Turner and myself filmed a project together for the 13 souls earlier this year. In this project’s filming Pete uses some of these principles to create the cleanest SS divination effect going. No anagrams and very little, very invisible process.
I have one bone to pick with this, and it’s that the performances don’t structurally make sense. When you have the project analyse the performance closely. Revealing the playing card becomes the main point of the effect - not the other information. Therefore, I would not use a playing card revelation at all... Although, I would actually expand this to other initial categories of information and apply the principles to those so it’s not a playing card at all. It’s easily done with a little thought and work on the performers part to plan. Please, if you get this (which I recommend) don’t reveal the playing card. Instead just use it for the divination of the other freely chosen information from a free choice of category. It will play much stronger. If you want to have someone think of anything from any category of yours or their choosing, then this is the piece of propless mentalism for you. It’s a very nice application of a neat principle which I think can be expanded upon greatly. |

My main complaint about much of the propless world is that often participants need to pay close attention and do an inordinate amount of mental work.
Is this really streamlined and easy to follow? Would this work for, say, intoxicated people?

Lol, well I might need something to review for the next podcast. I just barely ever connect with propless stuff.

They needn’t do lots of mental work - in fact more and more propless that is recently being released doesn’t need much work on the participants part - especially not as much as grey elephants in Denmark. Much less. You can take this idea very far. The download teaches it in basic form and basic effect, but I’ve already had several ideas with it to take it further (the principles). |

I ordered this because I'm always on the lookout for a direct, simple, propless, AAA type routine. I'm a big fan of Thought Chunneling by Joshua Quinn and a few of the variations that were inspired by his idea. Have to say, though, I'm confused by this.
Chris Jones seems like a nice enough guy, and he does a good job of explaining it...(and I have to be careful because I don't want to tip anything) but how in the world is the second revelation surprising or effective when the participant flat out tells you the key piece of information you need when he reveals, for all to hear, the first selection? It's no secret. Even though you aren't actually using that info at the time - from the audience standpoint...the participant tells you the first selection and therefore, everyone now knows the letter that you use for the next category. Again, I hope I'm not revealing too much, if I am, more than happy to edit this down -- but I just don't see why the non-card revelation part of this effect is a surprise to anyone. Don't mean to be harsh, and more than happy for someone familiar with this to tell me I'm missing the point. What am I missing? |

So how does this compare to Phasma in terms of cleanliness and impact? If anyone has both and can enlighten me, it would be much appreciated
Thanks, K |

For Phasma the aspect that I didn’t like was how you still need to kind of rush a participant to get the desired result. That is just not my style, I like a participant to take their time when making a selection. Can you tell me how this compares?

It’s a good job you don’t have to and we can just stick with the secondary (more powerful) information. I think this can be explainers greatly too. Pete turner uses it in my project with him and it creates something insane that I’m proud and privileged to have in the project. |

On Sep 28, 2019, The Unmasked Magician wrote: With PHASMA it’s pressure that needs putting on. A simple line of ‘the First thought that comes to mind’ could be beneficial and then you don’t need to snap and rush them by having them think of it ‘NOW’. With PHASMA (with some/most categories), I’ve found that the most chosen options can come up and if you know what they are then they’re likely to think of one. Of course PHASMA is more surefire than the average psy force. Now with regards to this, with the way it’s taught it’s surefire and giving the participant time to think os beneficial. For some people it will take a little longer to think of the information. However, with some categories (if you have them think too long) they will have whatever force information you want, then may actually change it. However, a simple instruction to go back to the first thought that came to mind should steer them back on track. |
