I actually thought both books were very good and think you should buy both if kid shows are your thing.
To me, SERIOUSLY SILLY lays out all the fundamentals. David actually gives away several of his own routines that have been honed through thousands of performances. SUPER SIZED SILLY is, for the most part, a collection of David's articles he wrote for MAGIC MAGAZINE. There are a lot of contributions from other noted kid show performers. Again, though, I enjoyed both publications. Gerry |

I have both. I bought Super Sized Silly mostly because Seriously Silly was so good, and I must say that it was very, very good as well. Start with Seriously Silly, and buy Super Sized next time. Gerry is spot on about the differences.

Thank you guys.I saw the seriously silly video and his Penguin lecture.I can buy one right now,and do not know when I can buy the other one. Again,I am also looking for new routines. Considering these facts, which one will be better?

To me, I would start out by buying Seriously Silly. It gives you fundamentals for you to use so you can build your own routines. At the same time, though, David does provide some decent routines involving the Milk Pitcher, coloring book, etc.

It might depend on your style.
If David's style is not your performing style, you might enjoy Super Sized Silly more, as you'll be getting routines from many, many performers.

I think Seriously Silly is the way to start, as I don´t see it like you would be adopting his style by following the advice in the book. It explains how and why certain ways to perform a routine works for different age groups. It is filled with routines, with the purpose of explaining the techniques being talked about. You can use this for any routine or style.

Thank you all. I'm still confused. But,as I already saw the video, performed some of the routines and well understood the ideas in the penguin lecture, I will go for the super sized silly. Mainly because at this point I badly need some new routines.I have been performing for children for last 8 years. And now, all know what is going to happen next.I have been trying hard to add new, good and engaging acts. But there are only few good ones that fit my criteria.I want to bring back the surprise back in my shows.

If you looking for more routines and ideas after reading these 2 books, you might also look at some of Christopher T. Magician's books & DVDs.
"Live from the Living Room" (DVD set), "Beyond Look Don't See" (book), and "Just for Fun" (book) are just a few of his offerings. - Donald
