You know a heck of a lot, Gaz. And you’re always willing to share your knowledge, too. Great to have you on the Café.
Please check regularly if you are becoming the type of magician Jerry Seinfeld jokes about. (This applies to mentalists as well.)

For me, I found the gimmick to be too long, and when I've used it, it feels different to when I'm using the gimmicked/active Mental Pen...I like the post-it note stack that comes with the Metal Writings one. I prefer the 'feel' of mental pen's gimmick and visually it looks very natural. Back to Write, Not Right... as I said in my quick review, the set-up/gimmick is different to both. And you will have to handle the marker each time you want to change whether it writes or doesn't. If you only want a marker that doesn't write, then does...then Mental Pen is the winner overall in my opinion. However, there is a reset required. The only gimmicked marker that allows you to write, then not write, then write again - or any variant of that, as many times as you want, is Write/not right. But requires you to handle it. Realistically, I'm going to be used Mental Pen more, but for one single routine I'm developing, Write/Not Right will be the best/easiest solution for me. Saying all that, if you just wanna use mini-sharpies, go old skool and the sw*tch between two mini-sharpies is dead easy...

This is a brilliant solution to write no write effect and such an easy one at that.
The gimmick is very well made and requires really basic handling to use. It's genius thinking and comes at an affordable price. We have it in stock here and fully recommend this item. www.saturnmagic.co.uk/saturn-magic-shop/54501.html If you want to see it handled watch our live show from last night www.saturnmagic.co.uk/blog/

If you don't sell any, then the time spent to bring the product to the market was a waste of time. For what it's worth, yes I am old enough to remember the days of brick and mortar magic shops. You are correct that they would never reveal a secret until you actually paid for the item. BUT you could at least SEE how the effect or prop looks in-person compared to reading a written description or watching an edited video. I had way less 'duds' that ended up in the magic junk drawer when I used to by magic in-person compared to buying magic on the internet today. |

"It's a Sharpie that doesn't write. Then when the mentalist/magician decides, does write."
In my opinion, Just with what little I know this sounds like mental magic, not mentalism.

This is neither Mentalism nor mental magic, it is merely a tool. It is what you do with the tool that determines whether or not it is Mentalism or not.

The no write pen is indeed a very old tool. The update with several of the products mentioned in this thread is the ability to write with the same pen either before or after the participant has seemingly marked something with the no write pen. Whether such a convincer is truly required is another matter.

Every problem contains the seeds of its own solution. Unfortunately every problem also contains the seeds of an infinite number of non-solutions, so that first part really isn't super helpful.

How many magicians does it take to change a lightbulb? Regardless, for magicians darkness is a time for d'lite.
