I fancy.
If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.

No. There are no prizes for teen-angst no matter how viral.

She was pipped at the post for this year's Nobel Prize but as number two she tries hard.

I admire her spirit and message but as a teen she has no resouces, connections or ideas to affect change. She's the perfect symbolic choice.

Don't you know? Nobel Peace prizes are handed out for what people are going to do in the future...
... at least that has been the case.
I still recall the day I met Beaker from the Muppets. He said to me "Meep, meep, mee mee mee Meep!", and that has made all the difference.

Awards
Goldene Kamera (2019) Fritt Ord Award (2019) Rachel Carson Prize (2019) Ambassador of Conscience Award (2019) Fellow of the Royal Scottish Geographical Society (including Geddes Environment Medal) (2019) Right Livelihood Award (2019) International Children's Peace Prize (2019) Interestingly, from a magical point of view, she does not view her Asperger's as an illness and has instead called it her "superpower". If her predictions come true we will all be burnt at the stake.

It obviously takes more than the youth to effect real change; but I think back to the Vietnam war, when many young US soldiers refused to fight anymore (and encouraged others to resist). It didn't end the war by itself, but it certainly played a part in the war's end. It's truly ironic that Henry Kissinger got the Nobel Prize for ending that war! Lynn |

Kind of hard to give yourself a prize you hadn't developed yet.

Just curious,
who do 'we' think SHOULD have recieved it? Who deserves the recognition,..and support, that 'the Prize' gives? The 'most peacefull moments', of the past year, as well as years past, were during The World Cup,....The Super Bowl,... Thibaut Courtois? Tom Brady? Andy Ruiz Jr.?!? They delivered. gallagher p.s.: https://www.prio.org/About/PeacePrize/PR......st-2019/ Mr. Snowden. Mr. Assange. Mr. Ellsberg. Even President Trump(!) made the List. My favourite was,...The local fishermen in Kerala! Great guys. I highly recommend the read. Give these guys 2 minutes of respect. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-india......CN1L61IX |

The world is accelerating; years ago the only thing they invented was the wheel and that took them thousands of years. Today we invent the wheel every two minutes.
And they go around twice as fast.

She's fantastic. I did some activism in high school and I don't regret a second of it. To have a diagnosis that is generally viewed as a social functioning disorder and still go out and face down constipated old men in the oil cartel's pocket is impressive as heck.

I have no ill will towards Greta and do believe her message is an important one; but her message at the United Nations was much too disrespectful. Persuasiveness is a much more powerful tool than indignation is. That is what scares me about the political and cultural climate in America right now. It seems that everyone treats those on the other side as either fools or evil incarnate. This does not lead to productive dialogue that could eventually lead to positive changes.
