Hello,
I'm thrilled to tell you I've just released "Telemos", a peek envelope that is so much a real, honest envelope that you can let the participant hold it and check it before and after you did your "dirty work" That's not something you should care about, because what careful magician or mentalist lets participants manipulate his props? But it means you can feel safe. What makes me happy and proud I designed that envelope and method is how easy it is, how clean it looks, how simple and to-the-point the whole things is Here's a demo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ILRvNF76Wto&feature=youtu.be

I'm confused by the purpose of blurring your eyes and envelope during the peek? Is it to call attention to what you are doing (very quickly I might add), or because you are trying to hide where your looking (which logically most would guess)? Either way, congrats!

I wihsh I could blame it on someone else, but that's a mistake on my part! For some reason, I wanted to appear as if I wasn't even looking at the envelope!? Hence my turning my head. Of course I do peek at the envelope, as you imagine, but on watching the footage, I didn't like the weird face I thought I made when my eyes suddenly whent sideways. Then to top it all I had the funny idea that blurring the "critical moment" would be like stressing it and that making it look as if there was something to hide would "add mystery"...
I was caught up in the excitement of editing that video and fumbled, many apologies for being confusing instead of achieving to demonstrate the naked simplicity of this! If you would be so kind as to forgive this fumble, I will make another video with nothing fancy focusing on the peek and I'll keep my mouse away from the "blur" effect and from all other effects for that matter Give me 30 minutes...

Here! The "peek moment", and just that. Bare, plain, naked
https://youtu.be/a-9NBPglejc By the way, I've been asked whether it is possible to let the participant insert the card himself and get the peek afterwards. Yes, it is. I have done it many times out of curiosity. Of course you have to make sure the spectator inserts the card the right way. It's easily done by handing out the envelope in the according position. That said, I don't bother and just handle the card myself! The whole process is so innocent looking I don't see a reason why not to stay in complete control. But it's possible

Brilliant. Thank you Cervier. This has piqued - or should it be peeked - my interest.

It appears you are just turning the business card up at the angle as you place it in the envelope which would easily facilitate the peek shown . It needs to be placed in clearly face down imo to look convincing .
Underlooked by Arthur is by far the best peek I have seen using an envelope in the past 25 years and is as clean as a whistle . I am not knocking this effect though as maybe you can place it in fully face down but it appeared very obvious to me from viewing the video . Kudos to you though for your honest videos nonetheless and I hope I am wrong in my assumptions Gaz 🙂 |

Yes quite right Iain and it says the envelope is a 5 minute construction so there must be more to it .
I certainly hope so as I have bought something else of Cervier in the past and he is a very clever thinker . It just appeared that way in the demo so it would of been better if he filmed the one with the spectator placing it inside as well imo Gaz 🙂 |

I guess that, having spectators in front of me I didn't bother making it obvious I couldn't see the face of the card. But so everything is clear: - it's not a card peek! The card can be (should be) face down when inserted. Hey, I even sometimes insert it facing the audience so they can see it going in! - it is possible to let the spectator insert the card himself, though, as I already wrote, it requires some more care while not adding much "value" to an already innocent-looking process. But, if you want to do it, you can. I've done it... On the lastest video, the peek occurs at 0:07 --watch my eyes

In the interests of full disclosure, I was sent a copy to review.
I have been performing mentalism for a great many years and have experimented with many envelope peeks, as well as developing and releasing my own. Over the years, I experimented with a certain idea but did not take this any further as there were certain aspects I was not happy with - notably the way the working of the effect caused the envelope to look. Seeing what Cervier has created has completely overcome this weakness and with a very neat peek and with an envelope that won't arouse suspicions. From watching the explanatory video, it is clean, effective and with the handling easy and quick to execute. Having just viewed the video I have yet to make up a Telemos envelope but this should be fairly easy, especially as templates are provided. Also you may need to buy something else (should you not already have this) but is easy to source and not expensive to buy. The accompanying pdf containing the instructions on how to make is detailed and well presented and with the two accompanying videos clear as well as showing the ease with which the peek can be accomplished. You do not get a full card peek but a good enough area. Telemos certainly has a lot to commend. Neil |

“ Envelopes “ like no 4 envelope does and so does Black door . Black door comes with 2 envelopes and once you have bought them it’s then possible to make more when they wear out . I mean to supply a gimmick for this effect so you can recreate your own one easily after wearing this out would cost literally pennies . Ps It doesn’t bother me as I normally always take the gimmick apart and make certain areas stronger from the outset anyway . You have to be decent at creativity and origami to be fair on some though , best wishes Gaz 🙂

Also in the interest of disclosure, I own the "Skyward Magic" website, and know how this envelope works.
Cervier showed this to me some months ago, to ask permission to release it, since it looked similar to my "Palantir Envelope". Though it is similar in how and when the peek is obtained, it is a BIG step forward, as it's easier to use and easier to make. It's a more streamlined operation than mine and doesn't require that 'extra movement' that mine has. When he demonstrated how the peek works, I believe my exact words were: "Well that was ******* awesome." As far as construction: Once you see how easy it is to make, I think you'll agree that including a physical envelope would be an unnecessary hassle (what with dealing with packaging, postage, lost envelopes, tracking numbers, people being out of town and wanting it shipped at a later date (yes that happens often), etc.). If you can cut around a template and fold flaps, then making this is not going to be a problem. Continuing on, I wouldn't recommend that you give this envelope out for the spectator to keep after getting the peek, but I don't think many performers would do that anyway. Though, as shown in the demo, you can give it to them to let them see that it's opaque from both sides. Cervier does provide an addition to the method for allowing you to safely let them keep it afterwards, however. You can, if you choose, put the billet into the envelope, set it aside, and then get the peek later. But since it's so easy to do, and has such a natural appearance, you might as well get the peek immediately. Bottom line: it's a fantastic creation, elegantly simple, and will serve you well. With Tom such an expert in peeks and envelopes that is great praise indeed. And I very much agree with his use of the word elegant - the Telemos is an elegant solution and very effective one too.
