When I perform Hoppin Halves and the coins disappear I end with a regular half and English penny appearing under a glass or dish or napkin.
I lost the regular English penny and I’m trying to get one. I already tried my local coin shop. Does anyone have an extra they are willing to sell. Thank you.

I'm surprised the coin shop didn't have one. What year do you need to match?

The coin shop (in Middletown, NY) had 3 boxes of misc coins and I had to go through them. I spent ½ hour.
It was considered a scrap coin unless it’s very old. It doesn’t have any collectible value. The HH set uses a 1966 English Penny but any year will do. As long as the patina on the coin is similar. But I can probably make it match if it’s not close. The spectator never handles the coin or gets a good look at the year.

You can get one easily from ebay from a coin dealer. They are probably not be as cheap as you would like, but they are really not that expensive.
Here's an example: https://www.ebay.com/itm/1966-ENGLISH-ON......3LVb8vDe |

I just got two on eBay for 3.50 with shipping. Just double check that you are getting one of the large years because I accidentally ordered a lot of smaller ones once, though those have their own uses.

Note also that English pennies vary in typical color based on age and composition. The really old ones (King George, Queen Victoria) are a bit more bronze, I think, and so tend toward being a chocolate brown; latter ones (Queen Elizabeth), especially if polished, are more orange-y.

Most coin shops have a random box of coins that are basically worthless to them that they'll sell for pennies on the dollar (pun intended.) I've gotten uk pennies, pesos, and lots of interesting pieces that way.

I have a 1966 with Queen E on the face, you're welcome to it provided you pay for the postage.
PM me if you are interested. Joe

Diamond Magic had a whole jar of them before they closed their physical shop. They may still have some available online.

Thank you all for your help.
A good hearted fellow magician was kind enough to take care of me. Magicians helping magicians. That’s what it’s about. Thank you
