That’s a nice sentiment, Wravyn. I will join you in giving sincere thanks to those who have served, and those who are serving now.

As will I. And it is Remembrance Day tomorrow here in 🇨🇦.
It is the Soldier, not the minister Who has given us freedom of religion. It is the Soldier, not the reporter Who has given us freedom of the press. It is the Soldier, not the poet Who has given us freedom of speech. It is the Soldier, not the campus organizer Who has given us freedom to protest. It is the Soldier, not the lawyer Who has given us the right to a fair trial. It is the Soldier, not the politician Who has given us the right to vote. It is the Soldier who salutes the flag, Who serves beneath the flag, And whose coffin is draped by the flag, Who allows the protester to burn the flag. Charles M. Province |

Today, we take a moment to remember the brave men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.
For more than a century, Canada’s servicemen and women have demonstrated true selflessness. They have left behind their homes and families and risked their lives to help defend the nation’s freedoms and values as well as safeguard international peace and security. From the Battle of Vimy Ridge in the First World War, to the Dieppe Raid in the Second World War, to peacekeeping missions in conflicts around the world, our veterans have made us all proud to be Canadian. The courage, service and sacrifice of these true heroes should never be forgotten. Over the years, more than 2.3 million Canadians have served their country. Tragically, more than 118,000 have died. Countless others have returned with life-changing physical and mental wounds. Their ultimate sacrifice has helped to build the vibrant Canada we know and love today. So, today, please pause and take a moment to remember those who have served, and continue to serve, this great nation during times of conflict and peace. And let us never forget. |

To pause for 2.04 minutes, and listen to the text.. agree or not,.. the thoughts that come are un-deny-able. So many good guys lost... not enough terrible leaders... Bless the Artist, they push us to think. Gallagher |

Unfortunately the song makes zero sense, but I always liked Buffy. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Magicfish.
Maybe the 'sence' is too simplistic, and you over-look it. She's saying: If nobody would show up and fight, for 'the Leader', they'd have to do 'it' themselves... Which as most know, they wouldn't. So basically, Soldiers,...Veterans,..ME included(!), were/are supporting...the killing of other people. AND if..IF,..we Soldiers or Veterans could see each other(!), as non-threathening,.. the 'Leaders' having the 'ambitions',.. we would not fight or kill each other.... and that would be a pretty cool thing....... I thinks there's a joke floating around out there.. "What if there was a war....and nobody showed up?" Gallagher p.s.: Today,..I see the gloriafaction of 'the Soldier',.. the 'Vet', as dangerous. For 'the Vet'! So many guys are coming home thinking,.. "Ain't I just....great!" ..only to find out, in 'the real world',.. they're....well,...maybe ordinary, at the best. Suicides amongst Vets is what..? 20(!) per day(!...!) right now? Or is it over 30?,.... per day. In Canada, more Vets have committed suicide, since coming home from Afganistan.... then died in the war.... I see 'Veteran Glorifacation' as being a source of the problem. |

"Which as most know,
they wouldn't" I disagree strongly with this. I get the song. I just think it is nonsense. But it is clever and thought provoking and entertaining. |

I’m a vet. And I want to thank my brothers; the many who gave not only some, but who gave ALL.
The difficult must become easy, the easy beautiful and the beautiful magical.

At times, there have been legislative proposals for a mandatory national service stint that would include service in the military or an alternative program such as the Peace or Job Corps. Nothing like that though has passed. A number of Peace Corps vets have afterwards gone into public school teaching, and I've had some of them as teaching colleagues. All very resourceful, imaginative, and inspiring with youngsters.

Way to go. I'm sure he wanted his thank toy thread hijacked by political agendas. This place is amazing and not for the magic.

"Tomorrow is Veterans Day in the US."
Tomorrow, was the 11th of November. The 'holiday' begain commemorating the end of the 1 WW.,.. "the war to end all wars". It was changed to 'Veteran's Day', two wars later,.. at 'the end'(?), of the Korean war....1954. Back to the first,..9 to 11 million SOLDIERS killed,..each others. How many 'World Leaders', Politicians,...clerics,..kings...shed their blood? 0. 🎶 When will we ever learn? When will we ever learn? 🎶 Donald Trump? Barack Obama? George Bush,...Jr.,..Sn.? Bill Clinton? Ronald Reagan,...? ...any 'Veterans' in the crowd? I find the the whole game to be a farce. Lowering the head,..lowering the flag...lowering the voice... how many dead Soldiers arise? . . . . . . *. . . . . . . . . . 11 November,..The beginning of Fasching(!)....Karnaval(!). 11 November,..St. Martin's Day. ,...a Roman Soldier who put his weapon down and said: "I no longer kill." Traditionally, the 11th of November was recognized as "50 days until the year's end." . . . . . . . . . *. . . . . . . . . . . This 'honouring' and glorifacation of soldiers and war I find to be....false. "Amen",...isn't that what they say in those churches,.. where they preach: "Thou shalt not kill." ? ...confused, gallagher |

If you're confused or don't like it don't ruin his thread. It really is not cool.
