This week we present not one, not two, but three authors of two separate and distinct books that have a relation to our "month of boo." First up is a sports writer, Joe Posnanski, with his first book on magic entitled, "The Life and Afterlife of Harry Houdini". This is an interesting look into why Houdini's name still resonates in our lexicon today nearly 100 years after his death. He separates fables from facts as he tracks how Houdini wrote his own newspaper print that catapulted him into notoriety and and the history books.

Next up, Burt Kearns and Jeff Abraham talk about "The Show Won't Go On" which contains hundreds of stories about entertainers who perished on stage. This includes people in the symphony, rock stars, Broadway actors, television celebrities, and magicians. There is even a whole chapter devoted to those who died trying to perform the "bullet catch" trick.
