I know what the Club's President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary job duties are. But what does the sergeant at arms do in some of your clubs?
Historically the sergeant at arms duty is to maintain order and security but are meetings are quite civil. Just curious what duties some of the clubs have their sergeant at arms perform. |

One of the original duties of the Sergeant At Arms was to check everyone coming into the meeting to see if they have their up to date National IBM/SAM membership card, and their local dues are paid.

I've been in a few clubs that had the Sergeant At Arms swear in the new officers. It is however the responsibility of the SAA to call meetings to order, maintain a civil meeting, insure the president is prepared for teh meeting, and insure that points of order are followed although most magic clubs aren't that formal.
