Hi All.
I’m looking for a good iPhone app that would help me keep track of all the video clips and DVDs I have. It’s getting hard to remember what I’ve already purchased, especially since non-physical media is being used more often these days. One of the problems with normal movie cataloging apps is that they only work well for mainstream/ regular movies (those can be scanned in easily). Can anyone recommend an iPhone app that’ll work well for magic videos? I think one that has built in OCR would make it easier to input the information about the video. I’m currently using Book Crawler for my book collection. Fortunately, a lot of magic books have a barcode that can be scanned. Thanks! |

Storage is still a problem when it comes to video collections. Most suggest and use the cloud. Create file folders for topics, and name the video file something you will recognize.
If you really want the files safe, the best solution in my opinion is to have them on DVD disc. Otherwise it is just to easy to lose them. Examples: You forget your passwords and you have no source to easily find it. Or as in Microsoft did when they started Windows 10, everyone was to get 10 GB of Cloud storage. Then they found out that that was to much, so they decided to reduce it to 5 GB. They gave everyone 30 days to remove their files or lose them forever, so they could reduce from 10 GB to 5 GB. Well I had to buy a backup drive of 8 GB and get my files off the Cloud. Thing is back up drives fail at some point. So when Microsoft was finished, I made a copy of the back on the cloud, but it was not big to all the files I had. I have not heard of any database available to keep track of your files in a storage drive or the Cloud. If you find one let us know. I did run across one, some time back, but as usual, they required monthly payments to use the program. You know, those monthly payments add up over time. I don't agree paying for the privilege to use something as a benefit. |

I forgot to mention, that there will most likely not be program for "private" video storage, because currently, there are two ways to buy movies, rent or buy. Rent you have the privilege to watch the video, and buy in which you can download, or watch on their website and they store the video in your account. You can watch them any time you wish.
I have not seen any video storage or viewing for private interest topics. All our books and videos are crated by individuals, not huge entertainment companies, and interest such as magic. Maybe you could put them in a private collection on YouTube, so only you could view. They have enlarged the length of video over the years that can be downloaded. So the may be one way to put your videos in storage and easily viewed. There is that other more secure video website as well, that you can keep private videos on VIMEO, Again, this is a fee based website. But I would still make disc, or backup them to an SSD drive. |
