In memory of Simon Aronson's recent passing, I was wondering which of his contributions to card magic were your guys' favourites?

There are two things of his I will always recommend to anybody starting to get serious in card magic, but I'm happy to wait for others to say theirs first.

Not a trick, but his memorization system really cracked open the mnemonic deck for me.

Thanks, Simon!

I constantly do Simons memdecks effects, they are superb. One routine I like very much is Shuffle Tracking, a clever way to switch in a memdeck, invisible.

Hard to mention Simon's card contributions without mentioning the ingenious Shufflebored.

Very saddened by this loss to the community. I enjoy reading & performing much of Simon's work. Here are a few of my favorites...

Past, Present Future
Everybody's Lazy
Bait and Switch
Four Stop Intersection
Histed Heisted
Two Beginnings
Invisible Card
Shuffle Tracking
Three for Two
Calendar Card (All versions)
Side-Swiped
Shuffle-Board
Two Possibilities
Under Her Spell
Self Control Lie Speller
About Face
Total Package
Square Deal

His books are the ones on my shelf that I consistently go back to again and again. That man was a genius.

That'd be one of mine.

And that'd be the other, although I'd generalize it to his entire free pdf on the subject. That was a true, selfless gift to the art.

I met Simon several times at the FFFF convention, where he would very generously give of his time
and attention. I still fool myself with Shuffle-Bored. Thoughts and prayers are with his family and close friends.

It's funny when thinking about this. I have performed many of his routines over the years, but as of right now, the only Aronson material I do are routines that have been heavily altered from the original.

For example, "Two Beginnings" is a routine I've always loved and now do it from a shuffled deck in use. So while a spectator would describe the effect in the same way, the methods couldn't be more different, as my current version doesn't use a stack. It's one that I call "Impromp-Two Beginnings". I know... groan...

RIP Simon, you will be missed.

Shufflebored
Two Beginnings

-are a few of my favorites. Reading his books has always been an eye-opening pleasure. His depth of knowledge and thinking is truly inspiring. Genius, a term sometimes overused, certainly seems an appropriate description of Mr. Aronson.

Did he ever put all of his work on the two-person telepathy act into print? I only know about the performance that ended up on the L&L DVDs.

I love his book Try the Impossible.

I have a new woman in my life. I just thought that since she is just getting to know me, I should avoid the following.
If I invited her over and had "Bound to Please" and Try the Impossible, on the table, and then pulled out a rope saying let me show you something,
she might think I am one of those candidates for Criminal MInds. So be careful when you show these titles. hehe.

Seriously I miss Aronson. I didn't know him but you know him as best you can through his works.
So I am dedicating this year to the theme of my favorite book of his: Try the Impossible.

I second Everybody’s Lazy and Madness in Our Methods.
As far as his stack work these are gems.
