Anyone read the French version ? How’s the book ?

===

The Illusioneer was a critically-acclaimed smash success in its original French language, and we at Vanishing Inc. are proud to be the publishers of the English-language edition of this important work. Carlos Vaquera is a seminal force of European magic, and this is his opus. With more than thirty card effects, six coin pieces, and several essays on the practical theory of magic, The Illusioneer will inspire you to push harder with your magic.

Havent read the book but I have met Vaquera few times and already in the late 90's I saw few of his Ron MacMillan Lecture videos and was extremely impressed of his material. From what I have seen it is quite clear that the material in the book is mostly great variations on classical plots that are meant for real world and have been extensively performed! Unlike most stuff that is published these days...

Hello all!

Can anyone let me know if the card material in this book is suited for working on a table versus in-the-hands? Thanks!

I don’t know the contents of the book, but I would say that every stand up routine can easily be adapted to table conditions.

Anyone have any comments on this book yet? I'm thinking about ordering it out of curiosity, and based on my confidence in Vanishinginc's standards around books. But I haven't seen anything in the way of reviews or word of mouth so far.

The book is beautiful. Cushioned cover, thick pages. 9.75" x 7". Good size for reading. 39 card tricks, 7 coin effects, 6 appendices outlining moves.

The card effects are probably advance beginner to intermediate involving erdnase change, fan control, side steal, etc. I have not gotten through much of the book but the tricks all seem very well explained down to the very last detail. Because of some of the intricacy of some of the effects the details will probably need to be read a few times with cards in hand to get the nuances down.

I like what I am reading so far. I am certainly no expert and it's been fun to work through.
