With 2 short (3rd card), I could use the above method, pick a number between 2 or 3, and depending on their name, if it's Amy, I would just have them spell out their name. I have used pick a number between 1 and 4 to try to get them to pick 2 or 3, but sometimes they pick 4 and I have to tell them between 1 and 4 and they come back with oh, 2 and 3 only. Which makes the effect look a bit weaker.

Although not ideal, if they say four, confidently ask them to deal four cards in a row.

"Okay, you cut here, and you said 'four.' Now you get to narrow it down even further," and equivoque your way to the card.

"You cut where you wanted. Every choice along the way has been yours. Turn over the final card."

It’s not mnemonicosis if you have to touch the deck. If you read carefully, Juan lets the spectator do all the work and I’ve seen him do it live at least 4 times and he is true to his word, he never touches the deck after he puts it down.

When you guys have to equivoque from the top half, do you keep it face down and have the spec slide cards off the bottom face down and place them on the table? I have always wondered if there was a better way to go about this hands off.

For instance with Mnemonica, lets says they say 8S, and they cut to 10C. Would you just have them peel off three, one at a time, from the bottom of the face down top half and place them on the table?
