Nicholas Lawrence has reinvented his visual morphing concept, Evolve. Now, NO DIY. Comes ready to go and is extremely durable. A folded card is dropped from hand to hand, and as it drops the color visually morphs from red to blue. It can then be handed out for examination. Adaptable to bills, receipts, etc. There are multiple handlings taught, so there is something for everyone. This utility device includes visually stunning effects including: Changes, Transpositions and even Vanishes of a folded card.

Looks really good!
Does he teach you how to make the gimmick? Or is this something that you need to buy a new one if it breaks? |

I bought it 5 years ago and I make my own easily as the original tutorial obviously showed you how .
I wouldn’t call it something you would use regularly but the right time , the right place , it kills . It’s a brilliant visual piece and I would like to know whether this is identical to the original or has Revolved evolved . Apart from just getting the gimmick ready made Gaz 🙂 |

I guess Abstract Effects has finally decided to give it a wide release. Five years ago Nicholas Lawrence released Evolve which required you to construct the gimmick. But one advantage to this is you could choose from a couple of options and create the version you liked. I owned this and made my version to visibly change a folded dollar bill into a folded card, which could be shown to be a previously chosen card. Another option was to change a red backed card to a blue backed cad. Revolve is the next evolution of Evolve that Nicholas has created. It comes with a gimmick already made which will change a folded blue backed card into a folded red backed card. The gimmick is nicely made and should last a long time depending on how much use and care it receives. It is made from an actual card so obviously it is not indestructible. This is basically a simplified version of the original Evolve gimmick. Funny how so often it can take years to make something that is simpler than the original. You would think the simplest version would come first but that is not usually the case. Revolve is similar to Evolve yet still pretty different but it would be hard to imagine anyone not thinking that the new version is a definite improvement over the original. First, it is a lot easier to construct than the original should you ever need or want to, and second, is that it is not permanently attached as the original was. Which means this gimmick can not only be added to a different card for whatever purpose you might need to, it can also be rung in or out during the effect which is why you can let the cards be examined or given away if you so choose. This probably isn’t going to be on anyone's trick of the year list but it is a very nice additional effect that you can get into and out of during just about any card set, and although it still uses cards it will likely not seem like a typical card trick because of the fact that the cards are folded and you perform a color change or transposition so it is something out of the ordinary which most specs will never have seen before. Plus, you can do it in a specs hand which always a good thing. This is a tool that could be used loads of ways and not just one specific trick but one of the routines supplied with it is similar in some ways to Tornado by Justin Flom and Rick Lax, and Revolve not only happens in a specs hand but also has that additional “visible magic moment” as Justin prefers a trick to have. Plus, you could carry this and a couple cards in your wallet and be good to go so it’s potentially an EDC (every day carry). I'd like to carry this in my wallet for a transposition effect and then go straight into Menny Lindenfeld's Tornimation, which I also love. But I’m still mastering Tornimation and working out the kinks in combining them but that’s my goal. I guess that it may be a bit overpriced at $40 but definitely worth it if you get some use out of it, and I’d much rather spend $40 and have the gimmick already made than $25 and have to make it myself. If you like what you see then I would recommend it. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. I’m very happy with it. |

Videoman mine is not permanently attached and is simple to make and it’s the original as just rewatched the tutorial .
It could not be simpler and you end with a clean card ? Gaz 🙂 |

I do not know if the new version is the same but it’s certainly super simple to construct and certainly nothing remains attached at the end Gaz 🙂

Hmmm. Interesting. If it’s now even easier to construct then why must we pay a fortune to have one made for us and shipped out?

Hey Gaz, you’re absolutely right buddy. I got confused because it’s been several years since I made and performed the original Evolve. I had forgotten that I made some modifications to my Evolve gaff because I wanted to use it with a dollar bill so I kind of took some ideas from Evolve and also from Chatelain's Bill Flash effect and basically came up with my own version. Although I preferred it it did have a disadvantage in that the gimmick was permanently attached. So apologies in my last post I totally forgot that I had veered quite a bit away from the simplicity of Evolve. But yes, Evolve leaves the card clean as well.
But still, Revolve is a bit more streamlined and comes ready to go out of the box. I think the handling and routines are better with Revolve too. Nicholas has obviously done some further thinking on it but if you own the original Evolve and made a nice workable gimmick (not everyone has your superb gaff making skills Gaz) then there really isn’t isn’t any great reason to buy Revolve. I have a fondness for this type of effect because it’s so visual and fun to perform. One of those effects where you can amaze yourself. |

It looks REALLY good. I didn't know John Goodman's son created magic, but he's obviously no slouch.
Please check regularly if you are becoming the type of magician Jerry Seinfeld jokes about. (This applies to mentalists as well.)

Hi Bill my friend , it’s a great visual piece infact one of the best I have seen in 40 years in magic .
I would like some new handlings and routines as that was what a I found missing with the original . I too tinker and alter gimmicks and have a note version I made that stays attached and also one you can remove . Good new routines and handlings is enough for me to buy this again so thanks for letting me know this . I just didn’t want to be buying again if it was identical in every way except a pre made gimmick . I tend to take gimmicks apart anyway and remake to suit me better or at least make them stronger in their construction . Have a great weekend Gaz 🙂 |

So, for a perfect transposition effect, Where the cards change colour in each hand, are 2 gimmicks required?
|

countrymaven Inner circle 1426 Posts |
Pegasus, you may not need that to get what is perfect in the mind of the audience. Just do this effect and it will be perfect.
I don't know how much a real magic wand costs to do what you asked. But respectfully, I encourage you to try this with just one gimm. It will be enough. If not the spec's are too loaded with booze or whatever. In that case you could make an elephant appear and they would just say no big deal the circus must be in town . it must have walked in from the street hehe. best wishes. my friend. |

I don't do any card tricks. Will the gimmick work with business cards and other objects that normal people are likely to have on them?

Finally watched tutorial and played with the gimmick. Really well designed gimmick. Functions very well. Only one real routine is taught on the tutorial and really wish they taught a few more. As is, it’s cool but one of those “this is really cool but what the heck do I do with it” gimmicks. Hope Nicholas adds some content.
