Lovely idea and nice key so I was eagerly waiting for it but... unfortunatelly my concerns becomed real... The mechanism broke on the first demonstration.
I paid also about 60 usd for shipping to Europe, so 160 usd was waste in a minute when the spectator examining the key tried to move the attached ring and broke some part of the inside mechanism and now the moveing part still slighty moves also in the locking position...

So mine had to kind of get worked in. I used it twice and I thought it broke. I kept playing with it and over time it got better. Just keep using it and see if that fixes the issue. Mine wouldn't lock for a while but now locks with no problem after wearing it in

If you want WAY MORE mileage for your money check out Gregory Wilson's, Florida Keys routine from his On the Spot video release. I will bet one could incorporate an ungimmicked version of MonKey with Greg's handling.

Thank youTyler great review, almost made my mind up now to get one, can you tell me when the spectator has the key in his hands after the penetration, is there any thing on the business end of the key that can tip the method.

Hi there,
Mon-Key by Jeff Prace is an interesting piece to carry around for casual performance. The gimmick is ingenious and well hidden. You can start and end totally clean. If you love clever magic, you can't miss this one. Enjoy! Alex Hui Hong Kong

Went right on my keychain and I have used it a number of times absolutely fantastic ... only time I had some one say "its a trick key" I hadn't even gotten to the gimmicked part yet I was just doing the flip it over part so I pointed out the position of the keys teeth to them they thought they where in on it than hit them with the rest of it and the reaction was AMAZING
Magic is all around us we just have to be willing to see it.

IMO this prop would be much more usable if it could somehow stay in the set position while jostled around in your pocket for hours. Then you could immediately go into it on an impromptu basis, anytime and anywhere. The fact that you couldn’t easily do this was a deal-breaker for me and is what led me to sell mine on.
Having to carry a separate gimmick in order to set it was also not very convenient, and my unit always seemed to be a bit temperamental about setting up quickly and easily. Mine was an early model (silver finish) so hopefully some of the bugs have been worked out by now. I love the idea but just found the execution a bit lacking to suit the way in which I would want to perform it. Anybody come up with a way to keep it set indefinitely? Might even be as simple as jamming a foam earplug or something into one side of it. |

This is a great piece, but I think it’s impossible to keep on a keychain long term.
I’ve been carrying mine on a keychain since magi-fest (just with a car key and no other keys) And it has completely broken apart twice on me both times just in my pocket. The first time I lost all of the internal pieces. Jeff didn’t offer to replace it. He just offered to send me the missing pieces and gave me a diagram of how to put it back together. I did this and used gorilla glue to hold it in place. It worked for about a month and then fell apart again in my pocket (despite me being VERY careful in carrying it.) Guess I’m going back to get more glue. I wish it was welded together or something to prevent it from popping open. Madison |
