Hello,

I'm really wanting to explore Spirit Photography in the show I'm developing and I would love to open the show with taking a quick and casual Polaroid of the guest I pull from the audience and end the show with a spirit standing beside them in the photograph. I know there were some effects a few years ago that involved the manipulating a physical gimmick into the lens to appear as something in the photograph, but they are now off the market. I'm looking for insight or an effect I can purchase. I posted it here, but I can take this into the Crypt if needs be.

I think it’s a good idea to take this to the Crypt so we can discuss this freely.

Hi professortango!

Definitely take this into the Crypt, but one thing I would add is that if you are going to actually use a Polaroid camera and film, your script should include an introduction and brief background of the technology. The cameras have been off the mass market for years, and young people especially may have issues with the odd apparatus and process.
Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.

Most have moved to phone apps because the technology for Polaroid is out of date and the film almost impossible to find. Looking forward to seeing you in the crypt.

Polaroid still makes them:

And thanks to "Stranger Things," young people are familiar with and have been rediscovering the old technology.

In the Netherlands, the Instax Mini camera’s are quite popular. Kids love them.

I just posted in the crypt. And I would certainly go over the process of the Polaroid. Part of the storytelling is the idea of inventions which were designed to do one thing, but found use as something completely different and how a camera might capture an image, but it also might capture what is unseen to the human eye.
Thanks to people loving vintage things, you can buy reproduction 80's Polaroid cameras and they still make the film.
