I just finished a new design that I am calling Spirit Skull. Its jaw moves on command by the magician. A spectator can even hold the skull. It can be viewed on my Youtube channel: "Bill's Magic and Halloween Props".

Is the spectator able to see anything if they turned the skull upside down?

The gimmick is very well hidden; but intense scrutiny could reveal part of the secret if the spectator was given time to study it. I take it back immediately as part of the 'performance'. This is an anatomical accurate reproduction of a human skull, so there are a lot of bone structures sticking out which helps cover the secret.
