The Parent Assembly of the S.A.M. is very pleased to present a rare lecture with Jonathan Pendragon in Manhattan on Friday, March 6. It will be held at Pearl Studios, 500 Eighth Avenue, third floor (b/t 35th & 36th Streets). Doors will open at 7:30 pm and the lecture will start at 7:45. The lecture is free for PA1 members. Tickets for nonmembers are $25. For more information, or to purchase tickets in advance, contact:

Jonathan has a depth of experience performing magic at the highest level of visibility and accomplishment. He has created strikingly original, groundbreaking effects that have significantly influenced the art of conjuring. He has rarely lectured in New York and the chance to learn from this innovative and influential talent should not be missed. Here are the details:

Jonathan Pendragon, legendary performer and theorist, presents a two-part lecture with effects which are all “A” material in his regular, working, repertoire. The first part covering stage personality pieces (non Illusion), includes:

Cyrano — his favorite stage piece that fills it while needing only a card sword and deck of playing cards;

Zen Archer — the most powerful “In One” effect during his tour with Masters of Illusion, which also aired on the CW network's Masters of illusion television show. The effect uses the mythos of the Samurai to present an amazing card location that, once again, fills the stage;

Flash Memory — a version of the 20 card effect brought to a very realistic though seemingly impossible demonstration of memory and acquired skills; and

The Vanishing Canary Cage— as seen on Masters of Illusion, Jonathan’s version is known for it’s speed of vanish and the lack of covering motion — or any motion at all, for that matter.

Each is presented as a full routine that packs flat and plays big. In the second half Jonathan will present and teach a series of close-up effects he regularly presents in the close-up room at the Magic Castle, where his performance is known for its “fry the magicians' minds” quality.

Finally he will answer questions in a Q and A format. Hear from someone who has done it all, performed in the most elite venues, received magic’s highest awards, and lived a life screaming for a bio-pic!

Jonathan Pendragon has appeared at three Presidential Galas in Washington D.C., and performed for the Queen of England, the Prince of Wales and the Royal Family of Monaco. He is the youngest performer to ever receive a Performing Fellowship from the Academy of Magical Arts (the governing body of the Magic Castle). Jonathan gained recognition for developing “Physical Grand Illusion," a style of Illusion that puts the emphasis on the physical performance instead of the prop. He created The Pendragons, an illusion team who were as spectacular in their appearance and movement as anything they presented. Jonathan has appeared frequently on television, including recent ongoing appearances on Masters of Illusion on the CW channel, Don't Blink on the pop Channel, and Extreme Escapes on Reelz.
