Hi everyone,
Just curious what peoples top 3 favourite kids magic books are, or their top 3 that they found useful. I know it's down to personal preference. I've invested in Silly Billys Seriously Silly book and Chris T magicians just for fun book. Hopefully get through those in the next couple of weeks. Thanks |

I’m not a fan of Silly Billy’s stuff, but Dynamike’s choice of Birthday Magicians Handbook by Dave Fiscus is spot on.
If you’re into customizing your show & routines, I recommend Kid-Show Magician’s Handbook by Tony Daniels. And I learned a lot from Bruce Kalver’s Birthday Party Portfolio. Another of my favorites was Children's Parties a Speciality by Peter D'Arcy. David Ginn also has several excellent publications on kidshow magic. And let’s not forget the Kid Stuff books by Frances Ireland Marshall. A lot of these books may be dated, but the ideas and advice they offer are still relevant to this day. |

David Ginn’s comedy linking ring routine is something I use all the time with kids. It’s magical, very funny and interactive. I highly recommend this booklet.

Most of my experience comes from working for kids and families, and I recently wrote a 450 page book about it.

Just to put it out there as a few people have mentioned Christopher T Magician. Absolutely anything by him is a winner, but if you're looking for theory on doing kids shows (plus tons of usable material), Beyond Look Don't See is the place to start. Those other books are great and all, but Beyond Look Don't See is his first book and it's the one that has all foundational material you should understand to perform kids magic shows.

Geesss, nobody's liked Fran's Kidstuff V and the first four books. The material is dated (it's a hundred years old) but it still holds up.
One of the last living 10-in-one performers. I wanted to be in show business the worst way, and that was it.

Seriously Silly I think is great.
Anything by Chris Capehart is fantastic. No book tho. Chris is an amazing performer who knows how to entertain both adults and kids in the same show. That's the model I use for my shows. Entertain them all. Kids don't need..... all silly all the time. I always sprinkle in some silliness but my show is far from it.

David Ginn has written a number of excellent Books over the years which contain a wealth of information including family friendly, highly entertaining, time tested routines. In 2013, he decided to release a combination CD Rom/DVD Set which is an exceptional value for $20.00. It is called Magic Ten By Ginn and is available on his website GinnMagic.com. The CD Rom contains copies of ten of his wonderful publications including The Snake Can Routine and The Comedy Linking Rings among others whereas the DVD in the set contains 2 hours of live performances which include the routines that are taught in those publications. I already owned hard copies of the publications before I purchased Magic Ten By Ginn, but decided to purchase it anyway. I am glad that I did because the publications on the CD Rom when printed contain larger and, therefore, easier to read font than the font that appears in the actual publications. The Magic Ten By Ginn CD Rom/DVD Set is one of the best values out there for a Magician who wants to perform Magic for Children.
