‘Into Thin Air’ is a recent release by Alain Simonov. The project started from a post where he vanished a card without a trace. This streaming tutorial focuses on a gimmick version of vanish which enable you to vanish and produce small object cleanly at ease.

Length in Minutes -
TOTAL LENGTH 37:26
* Intro: 1:27
* Theory Of the Assassin 7:26
* History 7:12
* Psychology 7:27
* Material 3:56
* Explanation 1:46
* Atmosphere & Handling 4:14
* Variation of Object 2:57

The video starts with an interesting discussion of approaches towards vanish and production. It’s quite inspiring for improving one’s showmanship.

As for the method, it’s not new. But I really like the approaches Alain used to maximize its effectiveness. It’s do-able for beginners and also versatile enough for advanced manipulators. While the method is mainly for controlled environments, It’s totally usable in real life. In fact, a very similar method by a marketed effect is proven good enough to fool professional magicians in close-up live performance. But much practice is needed.

By the way, one-third of the video is hosted by a special guest. He has given some very useful tips to handle Alain’s way of vanish.

The tutorial has a good mix of psychology and methodology which is rarely seen in tutorials these days. Explanation is clear but shooting can be improved by removing the dark black background with strong spot light.

Who is this effect for? If you loving performing magic on social media, this is an almost perfect method. However, it is not the method you may use in real life.

I will recommend this tutorial for anyone who want to improve their vanish in general. The philosophy taught will surely enhance one’s performance in long run. This is a tutorial which will enhance your magic, method comes second. It’s quite a good buy.

Final Verdict: 8/10
