Hello guys,

This was a hit at Blackpool 2020, it's currently sold out but on pre order and we should receive the new ones by the end of March.

https://www.magicdream.fr/letters-scrabb......oup.html

Here is the trailer :

And the add copy :

Letters is a modern tool for the mentalist who wants to add a simple and powerful effect with a strong impact on the audience!

Jerome Sauloup developed this routine in 2016, wanting to add a playful side to mentalism. By integrating the theme of the world famous board game, Scrabble, Jerome makes a lasting impression.

The routine is simple, the mentalist throws a paper ball in the audience to select a spectator who joins him on stage. A transparent bag filled with Scrabble letters is presented and the spectator picks several without looking at them. The choice is totally free!

When the mentalist shows the word formed by the letters, all you have to do is invert 2 of them to create a real word! Even stronger, the spectator opens the paper ball he had on him since the beginning and the word is written on it ! The prediction is perfect!

Versatile, Letters allows you to reveal ANY WORD IN ANY LANGUAGE IN ANY SITUATION. The letters have been specially sourced so that they are readable from a distance. The specially manufactured Scrabble tiles holder will do all the work for you in a very clever way, allowing you to concentrate on the presentation. Letters is a trick developed by a professional magician for professionals, and has fooled a lot of magicians before its official release. It will be quickly integrated into your show.

Can be used in all situations

Stupid question, but can this play more informally and close up as well?

Hey Nathan,

I picked this up for a friend from the PO Box, and saw the video yesterday.

I think its a good alternative if you don't have Wordsmith, being that these are actual scrabble tiles.

I didn't purchase it myself, but to answer your question after viewing the instructions.

Yes & No, you just have to watch your angles.

The product itself is good, but I feel it is a bit pricey, it could have been a bit cheaper, perhaps 75-100 Euros tops.

I wont have more information until my friend actually works it, since he has a running show twice a week, but I guess the product does what it says it does.

The advantages over Wordsmyth are that it can be in any language, given that the letters of the alphabet are used, as well as actual scrabble tiles.

If you have the money, and you think you are going to use it, then go for it. If you already do Wordsmyth, then it accomplishes the same effect in the audiences eyes.

Only disadvantages I see are: Angles, and the price....not sure how much it cost them to manufacture but it could have been less expensive.

My friend said: If it fooled Mac King, amongst others, then I will have to put it in the show to see how it plays and work it.

So will report back once that happens.

I will use it for sure. not close up, but in parlor and living room situations. yes, you have to think about angles, or the set-up of your performing area, but its good. pricey, yes... that will be the first feeling after you know the secret. but I got it at blackpool. it fooled me at first demonstration. and I buyed it after I knew how it is done.
one big advantage: it is totally silent! before knowing how it is done, you might imagine some "clicky solutions". nope. it is simple and practical. and with a bit of brainpower and modification you could even make it inspectable.
but it would be nice to offer extra shelfs/banks to buy. with 3 ungimmeked once more you could just take it out from an old scrabble-box.

You can create any word between 1 letter (but I don't think it's very intersting) and 10 letters Smile

What if they see the letters as they hand them to you? And if the solution is to tell them not to look at what they're giving you, what's the justification?

I like the idea and creativity, but to me the handling is not very clean or convincing. You have to indeed tell the participant not to look at the tiles or hurry them in a way so they won’t. Both undermine it’s strength as a f”@&ing technique imo.
Please check regularly if you are becoming the type of magician Jerry Seinfeld jokes about. (This applies to mentalists as well.)

Spectator doesn’t look at the tiles, you simply explain those are the rules of the Scrabble, you don’t look at the letters you pick in order to avoid cheating Smile

I like this over wordsmyth and here's why. If you are doing a corporate show and you want to pick an off the wall word or name of a company or foundation and it would be strange if it would be in a book or dictionary then Wordsmyth wouldn't be very good.

Letters make s more sense in this situation because they pick the ord themselves and it becomes the name of the company.

But then again I suppose it's possible with Wordsmyth to not use the book. You could I suppose throw out the paper ball?

A difference with Wordsmyth is also the fact the « force » word is made out of real tiles and not just a sticker.

Question for those who have this or have played with it - I assume that the force word must be chosen in advance and cannot be changed 'on the fly?'

Any further info on this, or Eric's question above?

Thanks!

I own it. of course, the force word must be chosen in advance. otherwise what is the sense of a force?
of course, technicaly you can change "on the fly" (you mean after you got the stones from the spectator?!?), but then your prediction will be wrong... ;-)

The back of the tiles sure don't look like real scrabble tiles...149 euros is rather pricey, may revisit once it's on an English language magic vendor website.
