That’s cool but I know my self and it would definitely look way to much like I’m “doing a move” if I did that
Magic is all around us we just have to be willing to see it.

Of core it does but in the real world with misdirection its not it is very hard to fool a camera

Interesting move Vinsmagic. Fooled me. Had to watch a few times to figure it out. I knew something was happening, just not sure what. As you say, it's hard to fool a camera...especially with the replay button LOL.
Like or not, at least you put your 'money where your mouth is'. I like that you actually show/share your moves....rather than just armchair critique. Top change is pretty hard to beat. Though even it can look obvious on a camera without any misdirection. Thanx for sharing. |

Is doing a “move” always such a bad thing?
Could doing something a little flourishy on occasion make things seem a little more magical? |

I appreciate Vinny uploading lots of moves on here. Some I like some I don't.
This falls in the "Don't" category... too much sudden and jerky hand movements. And no matter how much saying that "it should be done under misdirection and not straight to camera" won't change the fact that's it's OBVIOUS something is happening. Maybe this same technique if slowed down and performed better, could work. But like this, no. I guess the change back, looked ok! Keep it up Vinny! All the best, Dan |

Don't want to derail the thread, but the basic argument is by showing skill, you indicate to the spectator that YOU are creating the magic. Some want that power. Some prefer to not show any skill, hoping the spectator attributes the conditions to magic. I would say it depends upon the flourish. The common example is the Vernon Wand Spin. Vernon stressed that we should "be natural" and he generally eschewed anything flashy. Yet he did include the wand spin in his famous cups and balls routine. So even he saw a reason to include it. In the end, do what works for you. If you want folks to be impressed by your skill and say "I'd never play cards with him!", then proceed accordingly. If you want the reaction to be, "But you didn't even touch the cards and yet you knew where my card was, how is that possible?" you need to downplay the manipulations. Take your pick. Or mix-and-match depending upon the situation.

For me, this move works in his Snap Thru the Mat routine because of the feints.

Vinny, that’s badass. Very cool move, and sequence. Stay healthy!
