Hello,

anyone uses Linkedin to find new customers? How is your experience? How do you use this platform?

For me, one of the major problems is finding the right person to contact of the company I want to work for.

In the past, it was someone from the marketing department booking me, another company booked me through their Human Ressource manager, sometimes it was a buying manager, communication assistant, assistant of CEO, outsourcing officer and so on.

So I really don't know how to use Linkedin the right way.

Any ideas?

Good question. I recently booked an event because the client contacted me directly from Linkedin but would like to know more about a contact person also.

I look LinkedIn as another way to connect with people who have reached out about my services. If they use LinkedIn frequently, then they may also see photos and videos of me performing at events just like theirs. Even if they don't hire me this time, it's a way of keeping a relationship alive.

Like most other resources, it is what you make of it.

I will say that a Premium Subscription (when I had it, the cost was around $60 USD/month) gets you quite a number of tools that a free account does not; like the ability to use LinkedIn Mail and search functions that free users can't. I used it for about 3 years with some success. If nothing else it is helpful for building lists of clients to know who to target your marketing towards. I stopped using the Premium version a while back because I seemed to reach a plateau and I wanted to focus my budget on other things (like direct mail) where I seem to be getting more bang for the buck.

I've learned a lot about LinkedIn from Mark Williams, a man they call "Mr. LinkedIn." He has numerous free resources on how to make the best use of LinkedIn to build your business. He has a podcast, among other things, where he shares a lot quite freqently.

Hope this helps.
