After 38 years, I re-learned how to solve the Rubik's cube.
I'm 12 days into learning French on the free DuoLingo phone app. |

I have Revelation by Dean Dill and I found a perfect bulldog clip to hold my prediction card at the beginning of my performance. It fits perfectly into the routine because I use a college study notebook as my holder. On top of everything it fits right into the folder all I have to do is open the metal clasps and hang it on it. I was so thrilled with this. Stay safe everyone.
Good magic to all, Eric |

Re-Read Annemann's 202 methods of forcing...some are dated but on re-reading it there are some clever book test forces that I am going to try out...

I have taken control of a new type of magic - virtual magic. It is very easy (and enjoyable) to perform and has an extremely strong effect. If someone is doing magic by Zoom, Facebook, etc - this is the adequate "tool". I have already written a post about it here in the Café: https://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/view......forum=15

Great picture, but never mind all that, where the hell do I score some dark chocolate Tunnocks?? What the hell is going on up there in Uddingston? Shops are full of every other biscuit imaginable, but I haven't seen a Caramel Wafer in weeks now. |

More DIY I made a couple of nice close-up pads, I found an old game board/drawer set-up at Goodwill and turned it into another nice close-up setup, lined the drawer with felt for decks and props, made a nice magicians table out of old 24"x 24" piece of plywood, some foam for padding and some faux suede I picked up at Walmart some months ago..

This is a mentalist forum but are there any mentalist even here at all? All conversations and references are magic.

Now now, no need to sound salty. In case you've forgotten, this is just a mentalism section on a website for magicians. Plenty of mentalists are also magic hobbyists and vice versa. No harm in sharing what we're up to when asked, it's just a social discussion. Besides, the prompt wasn't what *mentalism* you've improved on during the pandemic, just what you've improved on. For example, the original post was about improving guitar playing, so what are you complaining about again?
If the discussion isn't for you, just scroll on or make a new topic bud.

I have been appreciating some of the books I have had on my shelves for years. In the process have rediscovered some great ideas and performance pieces.

This post has been inspiring along with the recent posts on must-reads. Thank you all for sharing and your support.
What little downtime I've had has been spent consuming as much as possible from Cassidy's The Art of Mentalism 1&2 to Hickok's Mentalism Inc 1&2, and some Penguin Live Acts from Drew and Colin--mostly content around developing a character, routine and identifying particular effects that resonate with me. Maximum Entertainment 2.0 is next. I found it at the Pike Place Market Magic Shop. Keep on learning! -jhs |

I have revisited stuff I have had in my draw for many years, one being Jim Crithlows The Fallen and now I have a mini mentalism theater Show, where I present it in ww1 costume, story telling, sound and visual effects plus smoke when I enter for my show. I have played around with Rubik cube ideas, made lots of different cribs and performed several live online mini spook shows, and this Saturday gone managed to do my first social distance show live,so have been crazy busy,

I'm ashamed. I probably spent way to much time buying magic (and mentalism mindpro)
Superchip manifest Bretzel poker test 2.0 dead lock (awesome) Roller coaster Astral traveler (very good) The Gypsy's curse from geminiartifacts ghost cash (astor mental) YES (astor mental) Very nice stuff from astor mental So anyway if I can't get out an perform I can still buy. Probably when I go back to performing the occasional gig I will most likely use my old tried and true. Although I will use super chip, YES, astral traveler, and micahel murray's dead lock. I'm bored. |
