I've read lots of rave reviews of this book. I'm wondering how advanced the book is. I'm pretty early in my journey into magic. I can do a decent Elmsley Count, and my DL is coming along. I have little performance experience, though I've done Color Monte and am working on a simple version of Dr. Daley's Last Trick. Any thoughts about whether this book is worth purchasing at my level?
Thanks for your help, Bob |

For me two tricks in the book are worth the price alone. "I Think I CAAN" and "Difference Maker" (OOTW) that aren't hard to do. There were about 10 other tricks and sleights that I highlighted also in the book. I haven't read it in a long time but just going by memory.

Hi magic fish,
I imagine you're familiar with this book. I'd be curious to hear your thoughts about its difficulty. Thanks, Bob |

Hello Magicfish,
I wish you were right. Unfortunately,I used yellow highlighter on the titles on the contents page. But I am the same guy when I had a magic shop and my dad passed away I decided to sell most of my books thinking I was getting out of magic and one of those books was Card Craft which was my favorite book. |

Ooh, magicthree, that hurts! (About getting rid of those books, especially Card Craft. I haven't seen it, and it's really expensive used, but you're in good company: it was Aldo Colombini's favorite, too.) Very cool that you had a magic shop.
Last time heard, if you own a book you're allowed to to highlight it, write notes in it, whatever you want. Not like cars, for instance, where ownership doesn't entail complete freedom of how you use your vehicle. So... does no one else have opinions about Card Dodgery's intended audience? |

I love this book. He has a section of sleights where some might take some practice. Overall though I'd say the difficulty is low-intermediate for the tricks themselves. Explanations are very clear, so you'll know what's going on. I didn't do any highlighting in mine, but have a lot of notes on this book, and items marked out where I've spent time on them and actually used them. The book is really a personal favorite of mine. If you've advanced enough where you feel like books are the medium for you to learn from, this is a great book. Inexpensive too, compared to a lot of whats out there, so it's good value.

Thanks, Wordsworth. Would you mind giving me a short list of standard sleights that he uses? That might give me a sense of how difficult I'd find the book.
Regards, Bob |
