I find this thread fascinating. And I really admire Chatelain's work here, he is a very clever man. I have no interest in exposing it for others (in fact I don't even know for sure that Im correct, but this is a great example of how as magicians we can get trapped in certain ways of thinking, because it looks like a couple of things that we are familiar with.

All the best,
Dan

I think the demo was filmed with the best outcome so that there are no discrepancies. I think in real performances, there will be a slight discrepancy and a limit with how many cards can be passed before they say stop.

I agree! Too many cards dealt before they say stop will NOT be good.

That would be disappointing if true, but would certainly make sense!

I too do not think the force card is on the bottom.

No I’m not having that. Murphy’s would’ve mentioned it in the add. Smile

The goal posts have been moved a lot imho if that’s the case Gaz 🙂

I also doubt that. Sure you probably should avoid having just a few cards dealt or the whole deck dealt but in between (so say 5 cards to 47 cards) I would assume it doesn’t really make a difference. But hey maybe I’m wrong of course.

Looks good, don't think it needs the card prediction in the box though...

If the force is different every time, then you could just write with frixion markers on any note you want and use a blank faced pop eyed popper...

That's not the method for this though, just what I'd possibly do...

So, ad copy says... "Challenge: Can you figure this out?"
Yet we shouldn't discuss methods?
I still say there is a magnet involved.

This one has me curious. I thought I had it nailed down until I re watched the clip. Really nice regardless and I'm looking forward to hearing more.

Reminds me of the old wallet trick where you place your wallet on the selected card

Though I don't think it is, I would like some kind of foldable card gimmick that you can load on top...then everything else is ungimmicked...

There's often a magnet involved with Mickael Smile

I think you have to deal past the selection, then the cards dealt over it are picked up beneath the bill.
As someone said previously, you're seeing "best case" scenario. All it takes is S**M card dealt onto selection, then M****T in bottom of deck.

I remember Penn and Teller teaching this using an envelope to drop on top of the cards. I suspect a lot of people know that method. And if the spectator thinks she knows how it works, well that's how it works (in her mind).

If it's really that your range is quite narrow, hoping it's something else

I predict people will buy this and be very disappointed. I have a feeling it will be no James Bond style gimmick this time. An effective method which will look virtually identical to the trailer, but not as “fun” as everyone’s hoping.

Count the number of cards dealt, and then count them when he shows them blank

So by the way? It matches? Could be "best case scenario" though
