https://www.vanishingincmagic.com/master......ss-live/ I just have seen this on Vanishing Inc, and I find it really interesting. Do you think about getting it? From the ad-copy: One of the most respected performers in our craft, Asi Wind's work with playing cards has an impossible, hands-off feel that yields astounding results. He confounds magicians and laymen alike with a deliberate style that seems so fair at every turn. His book, Repertoire, received universal acclaim, and his recent appearance on Fool Us fooled all of us. Asi will be covering several new concepts in his card work, as well as some of the material that has taken him around the world. The curriculum he has prepared will offer insights for both beginner and advanced card magicians, and most of the routines taught are not sleight-heavy. Asi is one of magic's most detailed teachers, and we're delighted to begin our Masterclass: Live series with Asi Wind. In this three-week course, you'll receive three one-hour lectures and three 30-minute moderated Q&A sessions from Asi Wind on the first three Sundays in July 2020 at 4pm NYC time. Week One: July 5th 2020 Fine points on the Fan Force The Double-Digit Force with new tips XY Deck and Applications Blacks and Reds Separation demonstration Reverse Engineering Week Two: July 12th 2020 Canasta’s Book Test Memory Stunt with a Memdeck Notes on pre-how and troubleshooting Imaginary Card Under Watch Asi's reworking of Tommy Wonder’s Tamed Card Week Three: July 19th 2020 Noah (Marlo’s Matching Trick) with extra tips Twin Souls Notes on tricks that work well for Zoom shows Calculator Trick Gypsy Queen |

Worth mentioning that if you subscribe, it’s $50 a month (with a 3 month commitment). Looks like the first three at Asi Wind, Luke Jermay, and Blake Vogt.

This is an on going monthly project like other online lecture subscription services. Each month will highlight one particular performer over the course of three separate workshops that will feature a one hour lecture and 30 minutes of Q&A at the end. Knowing the kind of talent Vanishing Inc regularly hire for their conventions and the names already announced I expect this to be an absolutely spectacular project. Very excited about this.

There is no doubt that there will be great value in these classes. However, the way this has been marketed is the worst job I've ever seen Vanishing Inc. Magic do.
Between not being sure if you have to buy the class ahead of time (my current understanding is that you don't, unless you want to sign up for multiple classes to get the three for $150 deal - or you want to be there live to ask questions during the class) and the numerous times they have said you can get the class for $50 or for a discount in emails and elsewhere, when you can't (again, unless you buy the 3 months worth of classes), it's been a mess. In case you're not on their mailing list, go listen to the start of the current episode of the podcast (it's the Tina Lenert episode in case another episode drops - the ad is at the very start) and let me know how much you think the class costs after listening to the ad and whether or not you think you need to buy additional classes in order to qualify for a discount. https://www.vanishingincmagic.com/insider-magic-podcast/# Again, I'm sure there will be value, but just pretty disappointed. And with all the free lectures that are happening, and a lot of magicians still hurting for work, not sure this is the best time to launch a $75 class. |

I didn’t care for the format. At either the $50 price tag if you subscribed, or $75 if you buy the lecture by itself, it doesn’t feel like a premium product worth the additional money VI is asking for over say Penguin Lectures or At The Table lectures.
Asi was really good and the material was fine, but honestly the format is lacking and I hope Josh and Andi put some more thought into how these lectures are going to go considering they will be part of the purchasers permanent download library. Still looking forward to the next two Asi lectures, but I don’t see the value that VI is asking for. Happy to discuss the format with others who have watched and attended the first freshman effort. |

I really liked this masterclass, though I will admit this first session left a lot to be desired. I started playing around with the xy deck earlier this week from the video on Asi's site, and honestly it's just briefly shown and explained during the masterclass. I am excited to hear about Asi's handling of Tamed Card. He demo'd it during the session, and recently on his appearance at Liberty Magic's online show and I really enjoyed it.

I was very disappointed to say the least by the lack of valuable content, in terms of routines, he gave me the impression that all he wanted was to get through this way too short lecture anyway, as fast as he could. It leaves so much to desire, especially compared to the excellent live lectures organized by
Luca Volpe and the ones by Alakazam. Maybe my expectations were to high. I hope the upcoming 2 lectures of his will be better. |

People don't seem to think good of the first lecture.
I still don't have bought it tho, so I can not comment on anything. But will people still say, that I should try it out, and buy just Asi's masterclass, or what? I really want to hear something about his points on the Fan Force and about his Double-Digit force, but now I'm actually not sure it is worth it, from what I heard from you So to all there have seen his lecture, do you think I should try it out? Or is it not worth it? Really hope somebody can help Have a fantastic summer, to all who reads this! Best Regards -Emil |

Asi actually touches on this topic and provided some excellent thinking on it in the lecture when going over the fan force. So what that problem is, if you have not surmised it yet, is that the thing is held completely virtually. I think it makes a huge difference that there’s not a live and in person audience for Asi to interact with and thus you have a distinct lack of dynamism. Andi and Josh also went with a hands off approach to the format which again, you now end up with a crapshoot scenario for which you need to hope that the lecturer will go in the direction you wish they went it. For the first hour Josh and Andi was hands off and Asi essentially just did the lecture without much participant interaction. In my opinion, this lecture then has aspects of it which pales in comparison to a Penguin or Murphy’s lecture. In Penguin and Murphy lectures, the host usually will usually cut in with interesting questions and lead the lecture in directions which may not have originally been planned by the lecturer. That makes those lectures more interesting and often times those lectures will veer off in both directions and time as it’s far more conversational. This usually gives the consumer a richer experience that over delivers. What I’m essentially trying to explain is that with this VI format, we are basically at the mercy of the lecturer which can be good or bad. Hopefully in the future, Andi and Josh will tweak the format and try to lead the conversation in the lectures depending on the questions they see coming in (like how Murphy did it). |

They don’t necessarily have to ask the questions being posed, what is helpful is that the host can get a sense of what a general consensus is on what people are wondering about. This leads to a conversational back and forth with the lecturer. So let’s say you cut all participant chat out, you STILL end up with the host actively engaged with the lecturer which helps tremendously with having a more dynamic lecture that goes in directions which they would otherwise not have gone in if the lecturer was allowed to just lecture solo. When a lecturer lectures solo with no live outside influence, what you end up with is what we see in a lot of instructional videos. If people wanted a tutorial DVD type product, they can just buy Repertoire and Asi’s other releases (including his excellent lecture notes which he sells). That’s typically not why people attend lectures. |

One thing to consider is that we are only 1/3 of the way through this lecture, so I am hopeful some things change going forward. As far as content goes, I’m pretty happy with what ASI has shared.

But neither Penguin or Murphys has had audience questions or a live element for many years, so I'm not sure what you're talking about. And both got significantly better when they dropped the live format and the taking of questions altogether. A knowledgable host is all you need to create a lively back and forth. In the case of this lecture series, any important questions that come up could be addressed in the following week rather than trying to sift through them in real time. |

Thanks for the answer
I think I will try it out. I have before spend my money wasted, but I don't think I could go wrong with any product from Asi. He always delivers. Do people think the half hour there is with a Q&A, is good? I think its sounds really good! So all in all, I think I will try it out, because the content in this live lectures from Asi seems so good! Thanks Best Regards -Emil |
