In researching a prop for someone here on the Café, I came upon Magic Makers new versions of the old Adams magic line. I know they have a reputation for turning out knock-offs, but their new drawer box is delightfully horrific in the use of quasi-vintage graphics, whether they know it or not. I'm thinking with some aging these could look like 1960's era toys? Thoughts...

Aging the image and box would look quite creepy. I could see this as part of a Childs toy magic set. Hum...

I know that Bob Cassidy used a large plastic drawer box from a Marvins Magic kit to turn it into a large match box for his Crossroads routine. Maybe if you wanted to go another route, this could be turned into a smaller "match box".

That's Tillie - an icon of Coney Island and Asbury Park.
I found more into on Tillie here: https://www.app.com/story/money/business......4701002/ S.S. Adams, the company, was based out of Neptune, NJ at one point in time. S.S. Adams, the owner, died in Asbury Park, NJ in 1963 at the age of 84. Perhaps, placing Tillie on the box is a way of paying homage to the man.

Wow! Thank you so much for the insightful and enlightening post EVILDAN. I had no idea. Sounds like the groundwork for a presentation if there ever was one.

It's definitely an interesting idea, but with it being Magic Makers how good is the quality likely to be? I mean how badly can you really screw up a drawer box, but...Magic Makers.

Indeed it is, but with the right "dirtying up," I still think it has potential to be a disturbing prop.

It takes a creative eye to spot this kind of aesthetic - not sure whether It’s intentional or not, however I suspect the latter. Wonder if The Tilley image is copyright or public domain?

If Magic Fakers is using it, most likely in public domain.
