Monty was born 158 years ago today.

Spare a thought for the old Provost and master of the ghost story.

Prof - now I am sitting here trying to think of the significance of the number 158!
The Moon is now to be found in the constellation of Gemini:

While searching through Amazon Prime Video for stuff to watch during the pandemic, I stumbled across "The Haunting of M.R James." It is five tales of his dramatized for BBC Radio 4. https://www.amazon.com/Haunting-M-R-Jame......873BCQ6L

There's also a documentary out there called, "The Lost Ghost Story with Mark Gatiss" (or "MR James: Ghost Writer"). Since Mark is one of my favorite TV writers (Dr. Who, Sherlock, Dracula), it might also be worth checking out if you can find it.

I didn't remember this date, but these last days I felt the urge to re-read some tales. Coincidence or what ?
Happy belated birthday to the Provost, however !

Just came across an episode of the BBC series, Father Brown: Season 7, Episode 3, "The Whistle in the Dark," which directly references the M.R. James story, "Oh, Whistle, and I'll Come to You, My Lad," including a brief on-screen appearance by a copy of James' Ghost Stories.
