Ger Copper (67) passed away yesterday at the age of 67. He died from a heart attack.
Copper contracted a bacterial infection known as Legionnaires' disease (legionella) in South Africa, where he was lecturing. This severely weakened his immune system. He was treated in a hospital in the Netherlands in recent weeks. In recent days it seemed to be improving, but after he was released from hospital he suffered a severe heart attack. Copper was a Grand Prix FISM Winner in 1979. He was also crowned Dutch champion three times. Copper also worked as a coach for various illusionists, including Hans Klok. For his work, he was awarded the American AMA Master Fellowship. Condolences to his family and friends. |

I have very fond memories watching a TV show in 80s with Ger Copper on it. Richard Ross and Tony Randall hosted it, and I think it was FISM when Ger won the Grand Prix. He was a real inspiration to me back then. RIP.

Wow! Very sorry to hear that. His was the very first lecture I attended at Ring 45 in Miami. I remember learning my first basic coin matrix because it was in his lecture. He was a really good magician. I have fond memories of his lecture and a few years later seeing him perform at a convention.

Sorry to here that. A very talented performer with a lot of charisma.
I met and saw him perform many many years ago when he was quite young, at one of Abbott’s Get-Togethers.
